  1. Colorado 1650 owners, How are they?

Our 1640 prints on a very thin paper no problem. If you use the high quality setting or higher then it prints AAC marks (auto advancement correction) that automatically fixes any banding during the run. And anything higher than high quality also automatically monitors nozzle drop outs and...
  2. Printing Shiny (Glossy) on Matte paper

I’d probably just use a cheap Matt overlam. But then again that’s likely because I use a Colorado 1640 and the only way to get Matt prints is to leave them white lol
  3. What is this mess?

Try saving it as a file type that supports vectors and see how you get on that way. Why always jpgs? I can think of a million reasons why not!
  4. Please give me your oppinion cjv30

If you can get it working then it will be a solid printer. We still have our CJV30 and it’s a tank.
  5. Discussion Mimaki CJV300-160 About to Purchase

Mimaki are solid built machines and are great printers. As long as you have relatively nearby tech support and get the machine on a good deal I don’t think you’ll have issues. My biggest grievance is rasterlink 6. Even 5 was better than 6. Everything’s over complicated and not user or...
  6. Best Printer out there?

Do you have a budget? That always helps lol
  7. Super lucky today!

I had one of the operators send me a photo the other day of a lam job. The laminate ran out EXACTLY the same time as the roll finished and they lined up perfectly. He says he’s putting the photo on his CV
  8. How many different vinyls do you regularly use?

We genuinely have about 8 different poster papers too. 80gsm, 135gsm, 150, 190, 200, 250 and 200 gsm waterproof, then 200gsm polypropylene. (All also need looked at). Trying to train a new guy and he asked how we know what one to use. You just know, silly.
  9. How many different vinyls do you regularly use?

Yeah we probably have about 40 open rolls of material in the print room and about 30 rolls of open cut vinyl. We’ve just dramatically reduced the amount of different printable vinyls we carry. The material and time we save by not having to switch as many rolls and chopping and changing...
  10. Discussion What is different?

Nope, going the same way as everything else. If people could order their signs ready made/designed on Amazon prime with one hour delivery we’d all be out a job.
  11. I Want To Make My Own Profiles

Anything you download that hasn’t been created from your own prints on your own printer(s) isn’t ideal. You need to look into getting a spectro and creating your own profiles.
  12. JV33 Heat settings

If you’re not making/editing your own profiles, try find a profile for a very light paper and the ink limits might suit you better.
  13. Question Sign Design Revisions

We don’t charge or limit revisions. We simply bill by the hour in 15 minute increments and charge them more for the more time they use up. Pretty simple, no?
  14. Summa Gosign

My cutter control seems to be up to date as per their website but that’s a build from March? Do you know where to find the firmware 24 release notes? I wanna see if it’s fixed the multitude of issues we’re having.
  15. Decals on wide format and die-cutting them?

Yeah your problem may be that you’re cutting them into singles. Do they NEED to be singles? We used to just cut them into manageable (roughly 12” by 16” sheets) but nowadays as long as it’s square and it’s under 140mm we just throw it in the XY cutter. Takes about 15-20 mins to cut an entire...
  16. Corel Draw 2020 - exported PDF data size are much larger than they should be.

Have you looked at what older versions of acrobat it is compatible with? I managed to get a file down from 50MB to 24MB earlier simply by changing it from “retain existing” to “10.0 and later”
  17. Mimaki Cannot print "ink"

Do a fill up ink or three and make sure there’s no air in the lines. One day with no ink should not cause your head any problems unless it was already having issues.
  18. Mimaki Cannot print "ink"

If you’re really worried about it just start a nozzle wash, fill the cap with cleaning fluid then set it to whatever timer you want and then just turn the machine off. Leave that there until you get ink.
  19. Duplicating cut layers in illustrator

What did you search in the web that you can’t share on the forum?
  20. Rant And the fun continues.....

Wait, a 72dpi PNG isn’t industry standard? Someone should tell my customers!
