  1. Recession

Past couple of years have been solid, and bookings for custom designed work never stops here. However, I anticipated a slowdown at some point and started a local print-sign business on the side - just in case, and we squeeze in the odd job if we can. But, been so busy the past few months, that...
  2. Perfect Laminating Finish?

Late reply here. Am using a Royal Sovereign, however many years back, I had a generic model which left much silvering in the laminate. Same issue, not enough pressure. My solution at that time was to introduce heat - and made a light rack which overhung the print - just before it passed through...
  3. Printer Problems

What is your image format? If in Photoshop, change image setting to grayscale. Top tab: Image/Mode/Grayscale. Give that a try.
  4. Question Best shop temperature?

Am a small operator, built a new little studio this winter and went with 6" walls, vaulted ceiling and heavy duty insulation. Two computers running constantly just about keeps it comfortable in cooler temps. No regrets.
  5. Perforated Vinyl

Re: "adhesive exposed through the holes, and it will collect dirt and be noticeable." Not sure if this would help, however, I have a similar issue with rolls of Arlon 8000x being too sticky on the ends - collecting dust and sometimes the odd hair from my Golden - (and also sticking to the...
  6. Need Guidance - first time printing/installing - 3M IJ67 perf

Finally - a good dry stable day for install. My first experience with window perf and so glad I did it in the shady portion of the day. A lot easier than I anticipated too. However, I was eaten alive by swarms of mosquitos - have the welts to prove. Lol Last photo is the edge-seal in ziplock...

Thank you, Frank. Will get one sent in.
  11. Strange sound coming from spool ?

Have recently been hearing a strange pulsed sound coming from the wire spool area during long prints. I would say it increases at about 70% on a 54" printer, though is quieter from a cold start. In order to source the problem and to find a remedy, I have made a short video for reference. If...
  12. Need Guidance - first time printing/installing - 3M IJ67 perf

Joseph, we've been rained-out for days. Haven't installed yet, though will at first opportunity, then share images.
  13. Need Guidance - first time printing/installing - 3M IJ67 perf

Processing went very well. Supplier recommended not using a laminate and doing a dry install, however, would it not be easier wet?
  14. Need Guidance - first time printing/installing - 3M IJ67 perf

I've had a request to cover some commercial windows with printed scenes. My supplier provided me with 3M IJ67 and 8914 edge seal tape. I have not done this before and will be my first experience. My greatest concern in getting started is: 1) which Roland profile do I use? (SolJet Pro II) 2)...
  15. how to deal with silicone on trailer

Depending on type, and in a pinch, have used gasoline to soften; better yet is Acetone. Scraped off the bulk of it (which was thick), then cleaned up the leftovers on the surface with the Acetone and a plastic non-scratch tool. Came out perfect - no damage to surface. Caveat Always test first.
  16. Question Q: Ecosol Max or Ecosol Max 2 -What's the difference?

Is there a difference between using Ecosol Max, or the Ecosol Max 2 inks in an older legacy printer? (SC-540 - DX4 heads) Compatibility?

  19. Make your own Hydrofilm?

Thanks, just had a look, media is a bit pricey. In fact, am placing an order for PVA - and do a bit of Frankensteining to see what comes of it.
