  6. Question re: installing DX4 print head

    Thanks Terry. :thumb:
  7. Question re: installing DX4 print head

Am installing new DX4 print head in a SC-540. Service manual states to remove ink from the line, however, I'm running bulk tanks - so want to bypass that. I imagine the head is empty, so how do I proceed?
  8. Strange sound coming from spool ?

Just completed the install and was easy. The motor is a bit larger than what I removed and is noisier in terms of high-pitch sound. Gave it age test and appears to be solid. Have a couple large boat prints to run, about an hour and 45 each. That will be the break-in session.
  9. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Sorry I couldn't hang and bicker with some of you, had something more important to do - and took the wife out for a lovely diner instead. Have a wonderful evening! :)
  10. How To question - Metal Sign ??

It'll be a 3.5hr round trip plus near a hundred in fuel. I also have a close friend with a large successful sign-shop who services most large applications in the Vancouver area. I'll call him up on pricing and delivery. "He said he's new and looking for different options and you guys pounce on...
  11. Fired a customer

In contribution to this thread; Have had close calls, but haven't fired anyone yet. If I feel they will be too difficult from the start, I say no with pricing. And having had some close encounters of the 6th kind, I make amendments to the site every time I experience something different. Then...
  12. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Thanks for the advice, will do that. And not concerned about being 'picked on' for asking questions. It either brings out the best in people, or the worst - then I weed em' out.
  13. How To question - Metal Sign ??

People like me, have become people like you - less the attitude.
  14. How To question - Metal Sign ??

It is. Have had much success with it over the years and have used it on other mediums. I'll inform the customer of the way I'm doing it (which is what they are anticipating) and add in a caveat. It's still a couple weeks out for me as I'm tied up, and I'll add a seal to the edges ass well...
  15. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Would IJ 3510 work as well? (have in stock)
  16. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Very good idea, Boudica. I haven't removed them yet, however will check. I also have a few years experience with automotive paints/primers, so could charge for the prep work and a smooth coating prior to application if necessary. They are in good shape otherwise, no dents, scratches etc... the...
  17. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Customer does not want to pay for new panels - they want to use them over. Thanks anyway; I'll figure it out.
  18. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Getting new metal panels is not an option at this present time, and I don't want to mislead the client, or leave myself stuck. And as I don't have the experience in this particular area, and is at their request, I'm going to guess what would happen if I were to apply a large solid piece of print...
  19. How To question - Metal Sign ??

Have a customer who needs two metal signs redone. About 73"w by 45"t. Appears it was once printed on a flatbed, and I can somewhat feel the raised text. Is there a certain type of print media that will work on such a surface - life expectancy - prep other than a good cleaning?
  20. Educating clients in what is and isn't high quality artwork.

Oh that Angst.......... Here's a little something for other artists of like-mind: - On occasion, I get a customer who sends in all kinds of reference images they found on the web, all too small for the desired application. I don't waste time, and then politely tell them "can't use it, it's much...
