  1. Make your own Hydrofilm?

Has anyone tried to make their own hydrofilm print sheets? Been reading up a bit, and have used PVA in past years as a mold release - sprayed with an HVLP and was fast drying, thus easy to build thickness. I'm curious if it's possible to use some large discarded backing mediums to test on, and...
  2. Real job of a leader - is taking care of those in our charge.

I Did? Interesting... Please let the audience know which colored wires you chose to cross in order to fabricate your allegation. Glass half empty much?
  3. Real job of a leader - is taking care of those in our charge.

In the past - I had a prop making studio for many years. Was difficult hiring qualified hands as everyone wanted to be part of the 'fun'. Not many could meet up with their claims; then it dawned on me to setup a skill test as part of the interview. So I setup a workbench with various...
  4. Head Cleaning With Acetone

Thanks for the notes NRSG. I figured (from years past) cleaning air brushes and paint guns in the shop, that it might be worth a try on the heads - and it was. Notice: I'm not a technician - however like understanding what makes things tick. Attached are 3 image sets, all derived from the...
  5. Head Cleaning With Acetone

Interesting thread for those of like-mind: https://ytec3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=164&sid=a33bdaedab13586ee314d9a8a233f977
  6. Head Cleaning With Acetone

I bet that headline catches some attention ;) More to the point.: I just did an experiment with a DX4 head. Disassembled it by removing manifold and rubber seals, then basted the unit in Acetone as I was curious if parts would melt. Used small brush to clean circuit board and surroundings...
  7. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

Thanks for dropping in Mike. No option on the SC as far as I'm aware. However I have had to trick it and catch at the right moment to perform the soak. Works, just would have been more convenient had Roland considered just such an option during initial programming.
  8. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

Thanks for the advice Jester. It in fact came down to installing a new cap for the 'K'. Waiting for delivery as I'll be swapping out the others too. Sometimes - it's the simplest of things.
  9. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

Many thanks Jim; first time seeing that tool. Does it simply fit over the exposed shaft - and turn it to raise or lower? Is it CC to lower, CW to raise? Do I need to do/prep anything else beyond using the tool? Is clearance critical when turning the station back up - and I imagine counting turns...
  10. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

Thanks Zoogee, however I'm not understanding 'tube thing'. When I received the printer from the dealer, that was all I got. Nothing extra, no tools or devices, not even the headlock key or blanks for transport. Though I will look from underneath with a flashlight to see if I can find a way to...
  11. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

Found this - Quote from: player Post #7 https://signs101.com/threads/versacamm-sp300v-dropout-question.125063/#post-1240170 Q: With power off and in park position, can I raise the head height bar in order to clear the carriage enough from the capping station so that it can slide over? (SC-540)
  12. Need Refresher on 'Head Soaking'

In a nutshell, we moved and printers had to sit for a bit, thus having issues with some clogs. Need help in doing a head-soak - DX4 solvent type. I know and have done the procedure of clamping and such, just haven't in a very long time and can't recall how to get the heads out of the way and...
  13. Changed Ink Brand - Now Having Problems With Magenta

Happened upon this older thread just now and noticed the comments to share for future users. Apologies for not acting sooner. I pulled the original post as I didn't think it important, so here's my experience in better detail.: - I had switched ink brands, and as the machine has 12 tanks...
  14. Question on connecting through a 'hub'

    That's what I figured. Many thanks :)
  15. Question on connecting through a 'hub'

So should each computer need a different IP for the hub/printer to communicate, or the same?
  16. Question on connecting through a 'hub'

Thanks for the replies. Would I need to change any IP settings, or just good-to-go? (plug and play)
  17. Question on connecting through a 'hub'

Not sure if this is possible, however I hope I can get some advice here. Have two printers, two computers, and a Netgear GS105 5 port hub. Can I connect two computers and one printer through the hub, so that the printer can be sent print files from each workstation - without conflicts or damage?
  18. Question on - How to move a printer?

Was the second move on the 545 netsol, and learned after the first that it needed handles or something. Attached are images of those I made up for this purpose. Glued and screwed for strength, and a rubber platform liner to prevent sliding. It's just high enough off the ground to grasp the...
