  1. repeating layout in Onyx Postershop

I've made a layout in Onyx 11 Postershop that I would like to output multiple copies of. The layout has four copies of the image in it, and I would like to print the layout individually twelve times with Summa barcode reg marks on each of the 12 layouts. Is there a way to tell Onyx to repeat the...
  2. JV33 paper sensor error

could there be a traveling dust bunny near your encoder strip or encoder strip sensor?
  3. What's Your Method of Color Registration

Cross hairs for a job with a few colors. For jobs with more than 3, a series of squares that are in a straight line with no space between them as stated in posts above, anything with that many colors is generally printed. the only time I overlay that much material is when a design calls for...
  4. Our new M

Seiko has instructed to loosely take-up vinyl prints, and use tension on heavier media only. The telescoping is more pronounced with narrow media such as 30". Seiko has special flanges to prevent telescoping at the rewind for some older models but not the M. Seiko wants you to use a core with a...
  5. Epson DX5 printhead bottom plate

    Anybody? Thanks, Miked
  6. Epson DX5 printhead bottom plate

Any body have an extra, maybe from an old damaged print head? I'm looking to buy one, but Mimaki would rather we pay for an entire print head instead of a little metal clip. I need one for a JV33. Could run without it, but one headstrike and the head is dead for good. Also, without it there may...
  7. Temporary tatoo paper

Flexcon just introduced: "dermaFLEX" Skin contact adhesives. I'm sure they will offer a stock product, but as a manufacturer they have the ability to their adhesives to many types of films and liners.
  8. Mimaki hell!!!!

definitely check everything for squareness, being parallel, tight, etc. so the only issue is the person putting the concentrically wound material in straight. In regard to the pinch wheels, make sure they all look clean and round. If the bail is left down, the will get out of round and mess up...
  9. Mimaki hell!!!!

@ SignPost, That's an excellent point!!! @eellis, When you load media, place your hand under the printer (you will see exhaust vents under the platen,) and if you can hear the fan, you should feel them blowing out from under the printer. If you hear the fan but the exhaust is weak, remove the...
  10. Mimaki hell!!!!

that sounds strange to me. Is your head height locked in position? are the media core inserts tightened in place? are the media plates bent? Feed roll telescoped? Loaded PERFECTLY straight? What media are you running and at what temps (pre, print & post?) Are you using a take-up device...
  11. Who wins in the white ink battle for digital printing?

If you run a multi-color job on non-gerber material through an Edge, the sprocket holes will elongate and the second color will not line up perfectly. With the Gerber equipment, the print has to move from one machine to another in order to cut. The summa will print the job and then cut it; then...
  12. Who wins in the white ink battle for digital printing?

artofacks1, You should try calling Summa Tech Support. They have real live (and knowledgeable) techs answering the phones within a few rings, or you can leave a message with your name and #; they always call back soon. I'm using a DC4SX for a specialty material and a specialty product that...
  13. Does anyone know of a mimaki technician in south florida?

Tubelite has a tech down there. Probably at ISA this week though.
  14. printing on objects

The highest quality printer I have worked with for the types of jobs you mention would be Direct Color Systems' DCS1324. Very high resolution, best solvent white ink I've used, high precision repeatability (for dbl hits of white, or multiple passes of the entire; full color design,) easy...
  15. Long Run on the Edge...

Splitting it up some how would lessen the risk of a print defect or software/hardware error impacting the entire job if you can figure out a "neat" way to put the tiles together seamlessly. I would make sure all the squeegees inside the printer are in good shape, all adhesive ooze is cleaned...
  16. Storing a cleaned print head

We had a head strike on a JV33 and replaced the head. The only obvious issue is that the silver retaining ring that holds the membrane to the carriage is a little bent. It keeps the cap top from getting a good seal and nozzles keep clogging. The head is soaking in wash fluid, and I'm confident...
  17. Who wins in the white ink battle for digital printing?

The DC printers are incredible, but it's difficult (for me so far,) to overcome the pass overlap each 4" The best solvent white I've used was the DCS 1324 flatbed, but the print area is smaller than you want at 13"x24". Mimaki and Roland whites are not opaque, and the metallic can be removed...
  18. Keeping decal sheets flat?

I've used tape, painted low-tack adhesive on a carrier sheet and also started printing on vinyl with a "lay flat" liner. Some causes for them not laying flat may be high humidity wicking into the liner or perhaps the plotting was done with too much pressure or too deep. Good luck!
  19. placed images have moved

The bitmaps are definitely embedded. It only happens when the files are re-opened in Illustrator. If they are opened in a RIP the placement is correct. It's definitely a strange issue.
  20. placed images have moved

The images are placed, so original source files don't influence the .eps. The shifting occurs only when the file is opened in Illustrator again. Omega, Onyx and Wasatch or even our desktop printers will have correct placement upon output. It's only happened to me about twenty times over the past...
