Maybe the brush is really small? Have you checked the size? (Right click while the eraser is active)

You'll get a cross hair instead of the brush size if Caps Lock is on. Make sure the opacity is set to 100% for the eraser.

Blue Painters Tape... (that's my trade secret) .. Laminate won't stick to it. I lined the rear deck of my laminator with blue painters tape. I also have a 57" x 8" x .080" lexan panel lined in blue painters tape too... I use that to push the film through the rollers when I load the laminator.

If you can find a nice Canon Rebel go for it. I started up with a Canon Rebel XT and have moved up to a new 5D MkII. I really like the Canon family. (The Nikon's are just as good). The nice thing about DSLR's is you can interchange the lenses. So focus more of your budget on buying quality...

I like the second one better... I don't like the way the script reads in the first one. Have you thought about adding a pinch more detail on the car/cart? I think it would look much better if you add a bit of shading around each opening on the cart so it looks a bit more dimensional...
