  1. Floor air mover to faster dry solvent print inks ?

    Switch to latex printers ;).
  2. Vehicle Wrap Artwork

You won't have reproduction rights to any of them. Learn intellectual property law basic or risk losing your business.
  3. Any good seamless pattern generators? Putting a bunch of images into one!

In Photoshop, fill up the artboard but stay away from the edges, then offset the artboard and fill in that edge space. Walla, done! In Illustrator, do something like this: http://www.shutterstock.com/newsletter/100/How_to_Make_a_Seamless_Offset_Pattern_in_Illustrator-3.html
  4. Need new computer

This is why you don't use your workstation as your RIP. They should be separate. Waiting to work just because you're ripping something is a joke. Free tip: the things you learned "a long time ago" probably aren't applicable anymore. And what applications are 64bit? Beyond the OS itself...
  5. Some of you are probably sick of seeing this design by now...

Looks great Joe, you do have a widow on the lager table tent that should be brought up. Glad you're having fun with a personal project, reminds me of university, getting to go all-out on a full imagined brand experience without limitations (hello real world!). Any chance we can get that...
  6. Some of you are probably sick of seeing this design by now...

"An old-fashioned lager, full-bodied with an aftertaste of brass and apocalyptic dreams".
  7. Need new computer

For a design rig an intel i7 with as much ram as you can afford and the best gaming video card you can afford (adobe apps use the gpu to accelerate performance, makes a huge difference). For a HD the fastest SSD you can afford, offloading long-term storage to a NAS and cloud backup. </answer...
  8. Any good seamless pattern generators? Putting a bunch of images into one!

What technique have you used to create your own? I really prefer to make my own vs Genetica or other generators, and once you get the hang of it you'll start ideating and creating them like crazy.
  9. Good (quick) read on service pricing + spreadsheet

  10. pantone colors

http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=1000&ca=1&s=0 This is the one you'll get the most mileage out of. I'm a fan of buying the entire Pantone library but really the Bridge is the most important book for a sign shop.
  11. vinyl for spare tire cover?

Do you have a heat press?
  12. Special Wrap Artwork Needed

Sort of, still need a good texture library though. Rust and metal textures for a tank design aren't terribly hard to find, but shooting your own saves money and adds uniqueness to the final product.
  13. Help With Onyx Postershop RIP Queue

You can set gutters and offsets in the placement strategy dialog for the printer in RIP-Queue. You can also edit the media sizes to have a smaller "maximum printable area". There's a couple ways to get to that dialog, I think "Configure Printer" is fastest.
  14. Thickest photo-quality paper or cardstock

Thanks for the info all. Bigfish I'll probably be in contact about the 12pt. We can always sleeve and mash shuffle the prototypes instead of riffle so that's no big deal. Didn't expect to find an exact card mimic stock, playing cards are typically two or more laminated materials, sometimes with...
  15. best price for onyx production house x10

Onyx 10.2 is what you want to compare against Caldera, 10.2 added much more control over spot replacements and weird ink setups. You have to stop thinking like a scrounging artist, you're financed now ;).
  16. Thickest photo-quality paper or cardstock

Wondering if anyone out there knows of a really thick paper or cardstock that can run through the L25500. Like playing card thick, if possible, as the project is making some one-sided mockup playing cards for a prototype. 12pt+ cover/110#+ cover preferable. Doesn't need to be exactly the same...
  17. Multiple copies of a PDF on one page?

InDesign definitely. Look into EFI Micropress RIPs, that's what we used back in the day when I was in quick-print.
  18. Special Wrap Artwork Needed

You can get print quality shots out of a t2i/t3i with a good lens (prime is best, to avoid barrel distortion). Shoot in RAW, process in lightroom, export and go nuts. Canon is also releasing their pancake lens line and mirrorless camera soon, that's probably the best bet for sign people who...
  19. Keeping Count

A routing sheet is the best paper solution, I really prefer non-paper solutions though (digital job management systems). Paper can get lost and you can only have one part of your shop looking at it at a time, where-as with digital you can have every part of the shop looking at a job and seeing...
  20. Location, location, location?

Whoa check out that mirrored reception desk. Was it a strip mall strip club?
