  1. Holding Down Thin Materials

I used to use small squares of low tack thin double sided tape at the corners when I would be printing on material that likes to curl. It would stick to the print table better than the substrate so I could use it over and over.
  2. Flexi and HPL25500 ??? Any Better Now?

You could set up a virtual machine on your new pc with VMWare. I have a VM running winxp in the background on my rip station to run my old colorpainter(with flexi) because win7 doesn't support the SCSI card. Same principle, just install debian in the Virtual Machine. and you have 2 computers...
  3. Clear Vinyl printed Without White

It depends what the customer needs/expects. The only thing we usually use clear vinyl for is small acrylic plaques that we reverse print and stick on the back side and then overlay with white. I keep a few samples like this that only have half white on the back to show them what to expect.
  4. L25500 higher than previous head failure rates

What firmware are you running? I know some machines(like mine) were having printhead overheating problems with the older firmware.
  5. Like Wrapping with a Hot Trash Bag

Letting solvent prints dry/outgas flat doesn't really work since the gas is heavier than air. Letting them sit, loosely rolled upright in the "fan bucket" is the best idea. (other than latex prints)
  6. Oracal 970ra High Gloss

Alright, thanks for the feedback guys. I believe the high gloss finish they put on there causes some problems. It really feels twice as thick as other wrap films, even the regular 970. We tried it because the customer wanted the look of paint. We replaced it with 1080 gloss. While not as "deep"...
  7. Oracal 970ra High Gloss

We had stripped the wax off before hand. I know you are not supposed to stretch that vinyl much and that spot is pretty flat. The only place we stretched it a bit was way down at the bottom of the A-pillar because they did not want any seams. The bottoms of the pillars are about 65" apart. We...
  8. Oracal 970ra High Gloss

Thought I'd share my experience with the high gloss version of this. I believe the high gloss is much thicker than the matte version, and has a stupendously aggressive adhesive. Aggressive to the point that it would leave adhesive where the vinyl had just barely been resting on the windshield...
  9. Backlit washout issues

That sounds a lot more difficult and time consuming than clicking "High Ink Level". I've never had anyone complain that the colors of their sign were ever so slightly darker.
  10. Backlit washout issues

I use 2 methods. In onyx preflight, I bump up the saturation 2 clicks in the color correction tab. OR check the high ink option in the printer settings if you right click the file in the rip queue. and I go with 20 pass just to be sure it dries. Both methods work for me depending on the type of...
  11. Matte Black 1080

Yeah I guess the FF stands for F&%!'n Family. You can actually fit 2 full sized humans in the back seats. We used regular x-actos to cut and trim. You'd be surprised how crappy the paint is on Ferraris. so we really weren't worried about accidentally cutting into the clear(which can be buffed out)
  12. Whats the deal with CET customer service?

lol, I wish. I talked for a good solid hour with the EFI/Rastek guy as well as the OCE rep. Even the guy running the gigantic Gandy predator BS'ed with me for a good half hour even though I told him flat out the machine was way out of my price range. Thanks for the info Colorado, I'll give him...
  13. Whats the deal with CET customer service?

I'm kind of disappointed. In researching a new flatbed for the shop, I have to say I've heard nothing bad about their machines. However, I have left messages with them and requested info on their website and have not received any responses. I went to their booth at the trade show in Orlando...
  14. Matte Black 1080

http://s711.photobucket.com/albums/ww116/rusty9_photos/Ferrari%20FF/ Cell phone pics, but you get the idea. The car is originally silver. The wheels absolutely ruin this car. The Ferrari sales guy made the choice for the Ronald McDonald plastic looking red wheels/yellow center caps and...
  15. Matte Black 1080

I just wrapped a Ferrari FF in matte white 1080. Nothing fancy or different about it. Well, matte white kinda stains easy, but if you're experienced you shouldn't have any problems with the material.
  16. HP L25500 ink question

Yeah, you just have to make sure you click "ok" in onyx(if you are using it) too after you change the cart.
  17. New L25500 firmware

Not quite. There is an option in the service menu for "Intensive PH maintenance"
  18. L25500 Beeping

yeah happened to me once or twice with january's beta firmware. Just a bug I suppose.
  19. New L25500 firmware

I Installed this new firmware, upgrading from the beta HP sent me to fix issues with the heads overheating(which I believe is the cause of most people having the machine reject heads) No problems yet.
  20. HP L25500 Printhead Replacement Override?

Sometimes the machine will reject the head if it has overheated, or has too many nozzles out and is unrecoverable.
