I've been getting some phantom substrate/carriage jam errors in the past week, so I was going to clean and re-oil the rail/pads on my new 26500.

I would assume its a chip/connector issue. But I can not say for certain. I would guess a mechanically defective cart would not fit correctly or just shoot ink out everywhere when it pressurizes.
Sometimes we used to get a "dead" cartridge that the machine would'nt recognize when you put it in. Have not got one of those in a while though. maybe just a bad batch.

I've used my suppliers generic clear vinyl for stuff that does not have to be perfect, and oracal 290? opticlear laminate for stuff that has to be perfect. I suppose you could use the 85xx series from 3m since it has a heavy poly liner and opticlear adhesive. only deterrent is cost.

just type in the local IP (192.168....) of your printer into your web browser. click the support tab, then printer info. You can find your machines IP on the main screen of the 25500, scroll down to the little printer icon.
Don't expect any errors listed to be in plain english.
