  1. Solvent vs Latex.

Our CJV30-130 just died last week. We were forced to make a change, and make it quick. For a long time the long term goal was to switch to latex for us. Simply because of the amount of vehicle graphics and wraps we do and the demand for quick turn around. The mimakis are basically bullet...
  2. Little help around trailer screws

Removing them is the only way they will hold long term. No material can bridge that gap/ angle and hold. If you really don't like seeing the screw heads, we have in the past painted them to match the print if it is a mostly solid or minimal color changing background. For example on landscape...
  3. Little help around trailer screws

We remove the screws or cut them out. I haven't seen many full wraps over trailer screws that aren't lifted like that.
  4. Rant: Idiot employees who convert all text into outlines

we have an editable and non for every sign we do. Unfortunatly every computer we have has a different version of AI and not everyone has the same fonts. So when we are done we have XYZSign_Final and XYZSign_Final_O for everything. If someone calls and wants business cards based off of the old...
  5. Getting fleet and commercial accounts

We do a lot of work through local car dealerships. Get to know the commercial sales manager, they are the ones you want to know. Right now the dealer makes X% of anything they send our way. We do wholesale for them and they mark it up and roll it into leases. Its good work and win win for...
  6. Fletcher FSC or Kleencut 250

we got a FSC when we got our new flatbed printer in. It cuts coroplast like a dream... but dibond, the attachment for cutting that and aluminum bends the dibond so if we precut the boards they no longer lay flat. Its kind of a pain in the ***. Over all its a nice little machine and its speed up...
  7. Can you wrap blindfolded?

No wrapping, but more and more often i'm installing cut vinyl on vehicles in a dark install bay while our apparel guy is making screens. :noway:
  8. Dodge Journey Racing Stripes?

I would mock it up on a photo of the car as a guide for the client and use knifeless tape depending on the design for final install.
  9. Design Files...free to client?

    Exactly what we do. :thumb:
  10. CET, Gerber, Roland Flatbed Question

We bought the machine just about a year and a half ago and that is the speed and filter changing that both CET and Advantage sign have suggested. If your serious about that offer you can call and discuss it with the owner, ill PM you his info.

  12. Font has me stumped

  13. Font has me stumped

Appreciate any help you guys can be. Gone through what the font and it was no help because of how crappy the photo is. I bounced through all of our fonts in house and have nothing close. Anything in the neighborhood would be appreciated. Thanks font gurus! :notworthy:
  14. CET, Gerber, Roland Flatbed Question

We have a CET 250H. Took nearly a year and multiple techs out here to get it running "right". It doesn't print nearly the speed they advertise or we were told when we were sold the machine. Every environmental factor will mess with your printer. The tech specs say 40-60% humidity, try 55+...
  15. Wrapped vehicles, do we need to report a color change to DMV?

I know of a few shops that do color change that have had owners pulled over and hassled. Everyone basically says it depends on the state you live in and the officer that pulls you over. Rule of thumb is if you do the door jams it is best to report it. If you dont, you can always open the door...
  16. Magnets on aluminum vehicles

For parade graphics on the new aluminum trucks we are doing basic squares w/ rounded edges or something simple on oracal 3651/3641 and having the customer just pull all 4 corners back and apply just the corners. Easy on/ easy off and easy enough for them to apply without messing up.
  17. trouble client. Wants art files back.

We store artwork for clients only for our convenience. We tell customers we do not store their artwork and archive it for them, that is not our job. So if a customer is really being a piece of work, "sorry we don't have anything on file for you" :thumb:
  18. Largest Flake Metallic Wrap Vinyl?

Avery diamond line like others have said. Hexis also has some heavy flake materials.
  19. Gift Cards

We have actually had quite a few people come in asking about gift cards also. Typically parents of kids starting their own businesses and they want to help them out. We just print out a paper certificate with a total on it and tell them to have it brought in at time of order.
