  2. HELP!! Moving a JV33

Other than the problem I mentioned above, I should also tell you that we carried 2 JV33's up and down a stairwell- without the clamps and full of ink...they are O.K. Also, I think you could leave one unplugged for a few days and recover everything with a good soak. Much easier than the old JV3...
  3. Drop shadows

Blend Modes, under the Appearance Panel's Opacity setting deal with how overlapping colors interact with each other; top down. You may want to look at transparency settings as well as the resolution settings Vector Dr pointed out. Sometimes having a drop shadow or any effect with transparency...
  4. Edge ready punch

Does anyone know how to get a 15" roll of specialty vinyl punched with Gerber's hole pattern? Thanks for the advice!
  5. Drop shadows

drop shadows are possible in illustrator (Effect> Stylize> Drop Shadow,) but you may want to check with your printer about what type of printing they use to make the cards. They should be able to give you some guidance as to what their output capabilities are. Good Luck!
  6. HELP!! Moving a JV33

lock the head in place with the yellow clamps that came with the printer. If there is ink in the system, you may want to flush it out; I recently tilted one of mine up on one side and the gravity and increased pressure may have damaged the wall of a damper. Keep in mind that I am not a tech, I...
  7. K bleeding into Y (JV33)

looks like the hose in reference was not allowing enough wash to get into the capping station. I swapped out the hose and all is well!!! Thanks for all of the insight!
  8. Overspray Problems on JV-33

Yesterday I had a similar problem with a JV33. I was about to go through the basics; inspect cap head, dampers, pump... but then I saw it. The tube coming from the wash cartridge to the capping station was designed in a way that it rubs against the metal frame. Eventually it wears through...

  10. overlap in DC4SX large prints

what's the best method of closing the gap between passes when printing a graphic that's larger than the height of the 10cm print head? Is 10cm the highest value for height that can be printed without the overlap issue? Thanks!
  11. K bleeding into Y (JV33)

lines from wash to cap station Above the capping station the tubing from the wash cartridge is connected to a stainless elbow. When the mechanism turns to get out of the way of the print head, it wears on the metal cover. Mimaki was supposed to fix all printers, but some techs did it, and some...
  12. K bleeding into Y (JV33)

went to change the cap head and saw that the tube leading from the wash Cartridge to the cap is worn. These were all supposed to be repaired by mimaki after they noticed the problem, but obviously this printer was not repaired. waiting for new tubes before replacing anything else. if that...
  13. K bleeding into Y (JV33)

Since the black is in both yellow areas of the test print, and none of the wash cycles have cleared it up, should I change the head cap and two black dampers? The dampers actually look fine, so I would start with the cap head. What do you all think?
  14. K bleeding into Y (JV33)

Black is migrating into both sections of yellow on the test print of one of the JV33 printers. When printing a yellow shape, there is a muddy line between passes. Media comp is good though. What would cause this? Should the cap top and black dampers be replaced? Would a pump tube...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QR_code brief explanation http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ free QR code generator QR codes can be fairly versatile. Texting and routing to URLs among other things.
  16. Do you use QR codes?

The technology has been around for a while but a lot of people are just now noticing them in the market place. Potential clients may be impressed simply by their (QR codes) presence. I am working on some packaging right now that will include QR codes just because they can draw attention...
  17. Looking for Chrome vinyl

I've seen the colored chrome wrap material that 3M is coming out with and it's expensive. It made me wonder if buying cast white and printing 100% coverage with Mimaki's or Roland's metallic inks would work. Those inks will rub off with light thumb pressure, so I quit using them. However, I...
  18. Overspray Problems on JV-33

Did your test prints simply drop out the nozzles, or did it begin with some deflection and grow into a larger problem? One thing that came to my mind was the possibility of static being generated as material is unwound and fed into the printer. It would be even more of a possibility if your...
  19. question about a job im asked to do

Don't know what type of equipment you have, but you could use a large thermal transfer printer like Summa's DC4, or tile prints from an Edge. Print on translucent material with opaque foils, except where the head lights are. Good Luck!
  20. local sign shops want me to wrap vehicles

Sounds like a good opportunity. Hopefully you get to have input as far as what materials they print and lam with, and distance yourself from any liability of material failure of bad design. Good Luck!
