Hello rfulford, I saw that you are located close to my facility (LK. Mary,) and I visited your site. There seems to be lots of interesting projects going in your facility. I saw a page dedicated to printer service; does your company offer service for Mimaki equipment? Thank you for your time, MikeD
  2. Photoshop action for creating step and repeat banners

Actions can be taken a step further in PSD by turning them into "droplets." File> Automate>Create Droplet... This creates what amounts to an icon that you can drag multiple files onto, and your original action will run on all of them. Illustrator also has the ability to record steps to make...

  4. DC4SX Error- what does it mean?!

jHill nailed it! I had noticed some issues with the Magenta foil wrinkling and "reset" the printer in order to make adjustments. I am going to make the windows adjustments and re-boot everything. Hopefully that cures it. I am printing out of Illustrator CS4. Thanks very much for the help!!!!!!
  5. DC4SX Error- what does it mean?!

RASTER ERROR: UNEXPECTED END OF BAND [CONTINUE] Any idea what this means? It started today after printing several copies of a job we have printed many times in the past. At this point, we can not print. 3Color + 1 Spot (Mirror Silver.) Thanks for the advice!
  6. Wasatch Weed Box dimensions

Anyone know how to change the offset of a weed box in Wasatch? When I assign a weed box, it is too close to the graphic's cutpath. Thanks!
  7. Jv400

What do you all think of the JV400 SUV printer? I was not able to attend the show in Vegas, but I did have some really nice samples brought back to me. MikeD
  8. Do you use a Print/Cut System or Separate Print+Plotter

Another consideration is the type of printing you want to do. Print Cut combos don't really allow for dry time or lamination. Thermal resin (Summa DC4, Matan..) do not need to dry and can lay down clear scratch guard prior to cutting. Good Luck!
  9. Suggestions for Slideshow software

If you are using the creative suite you could use bridge to make a slideshow (html, pdf..) I think you can do it with all the programs in the suite besides Illustrator, but I havent had to make one in years, so I am to up to date.
  10. automatic cost estimator

In Wasatch, we can put values for ink and substrate into the cost estimator tool, and when we open a job, the Cost estimator tool tells us how much the job will cost. I have seen a spot to put foil costs in Summa Color Control (or maybe Summa Printer Control.) Is this the same type of cost...
  11. Sigh... employee cut into the bottom roller...

I was never taught how to correctly web a laminator. A few Signs101rs' gave me advice on getting the materials through the nip by pushing a sled through, and that made things much easier. What I ended up with was about 14" of vinyl webbed through and about the same amount of laminate. At that...
  12. How to kill a job

Just heard back from Summa Tech support: All I had to do was scroll down to "Reset" and the job cancels. I saw that button before but didn't really know what it was going to reset so I avoided it. So that's how to kill a job on a DC4SX.. had it for a couple of months now and I'm learning more...

Didn't work... Going to try left toe.
  14. How to kill a job

What's the best spot to hit it?
  15. How to kill a job

I have a question about cancelling a job: how do you do it?! While printing some black foil on 3M’s IJ3555, I see that the density is too high. I don’t want to continue printing; I want to stop the printer and make adjustments to the Black density. However, “Pause” or “Cancel” don’t seem to...
  16. Linkedin

If you're an employer, it's a cheap head hunting tool; if you're unemployed it's a good way to get in touch with potential employers. It is definitely not like FB- you can post skill sets and accomplishments, but typically "...look what I did over the weekend..." comments or what your favorite...
  17. Removable wall stickers?

PhotoTex. I think they may be a merchant member here. Solvent and Aqueous versions available. I have also run some of it through a Xerox Docucolor toner based printer with good results. For plotting, sharp 60' blades worked best for me.
  18. Running two Edges from one computer

Yes, multiple printers and plotters can be run from one copy. Just install them as Plotter 1 plotter 2 etc... Edge 1 Edge 2 etc...
  19. HELP With CGFX160 And CGFX160 II

I'm not familiar with that printer, but if a new plotter has the same issue, perhaps the problem originates from your printer. Your prints may have some distortion. Try printing a 400mm sq and then measure to see if it is shorter or longer. You can do the same test with the plotter to help...
