  1. Any Photographers in the room?

For product photography we use Cannon and Nikon in a dedicated 12'x12' photo booth with lighting and reflectors among other things, but I find myself using the iPhone for everyday items like documenting print defects or before and after shots during repairs so everything gets put back together...
  2. Do you need extraction for ss21 inks?

From Island Air website: "...ICA manufactures several different sized units designed and engineered for use in traditional offset/litho print shops, screen printing shops and the Digital environment running solvent based, eco-solvent based and UV curable based printing systems. The Dusters are...
  3. Do you have a dog in your shop?

We are pet and dust-friendly. It makes it hard to get prints free of hair or dust. To help keep it in check we use the same techniques you describe with the addition of an industrial air filter originally intended for saw dust. I've tried surgically removing hairs, bugs and dust from laminated...
  4. vinyl options??

PhotoTex has been the most reliable material for wall graphics that I have personally used. However, I have not run it through any of our TT printers- Edge or Summa. I think TT printers require a very smooth surface; unlike the Phototex surface that works great on our inkjets. Let your vendor...
  5. Do you need extraction for ss21 inks?

Look at the Island Air unit on google. it's got about 2.5' SQ FT of floor space (guessing.) We are running many ecosolvent printers in a partially inclosed area. The smell has given me many headaches, especially when running a profile with heavy ink levels. The exhaust units aren't set up, we...
  6. Which eco solvent is best for an office environment?

Most of them have fume extraction fans as an option. Island Air makes a product that will take most of the VOC's out of the air in the print area. Most printers have the same durability when run with similar profiles on the same media. For true abrasion protection, use an over-laminate. Good Luck!
  7. Printing Issues Jv33.

Try replacing the cap head first for about $80 before buying a new print head. The overnight soak might not have worked if the capping station wasn't able to get a good seal. Good Luck!
  8. Unusual Behavior with Large Prints (DC4sx) and workaround

Is everything O.K. with the Cyan cassette and chip?
  9. sending kiss-cut + perf-cut in 1 job

Wasatch & Summa S-75 plotters. Anyone know how to send two types of cut parameters in 1 job via Wasatch to a Summa S-75? I want to include a kiss-cut and a 2nd perf-cut in the same job. When I first read about it, I tried it out and it worked...can't remember how I did it though. I still have...
  10. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

replacing the Yribbons fixed it! Thanks for the advice!
  11. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

It's fun..and I'm getting PAID! Can't beat that, although if I don't get it right, I'll probably get FIRED! In for a long night for sure.
  12. Problem with take up roll

Not sure about your particular printer, but our Mimaki printers have a switch on the motor that has 3 settings; off, forward and reverse. We also made one for another piece of equipment that is On/Off only, but has a torque limiter. If yours does, you could loosen it up all the way when you need...
  13. Need your opinion - Magnum magnetic material

We process a couple pallets of magnum's product each month and it works great. .030 should have enough pull strength to hold on; I've put plenty of 025 out and had no complaints. I can't imagine any construction vehicle being clean- especially one involved in asphalt work. Hopefully your cost...
  14. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

I had trouble logging in to Signs101... anyway, everything in the pen block looked fine and moved freely (up/down.) Now I have the Y Bar off and am replacing the 2 Y ribbon cables. When manually moving the carriage, I could hear a slight clicking noise, and reached under and felt what seemed to...
  15. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

I'm about to tear into this thing (very carefully...) Thank you all for the help! I will post the results
  16. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

    got the PM, Thanks!
  17. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

I think there must be a loose connection on 1 of the ribbon cables under the carriage or Ybar. Anyone know how to take one apart to inspect?
  18. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

The tool does not drop at all in some areas. We can send the job out again, and it will not drop in a different area, and cut the part it was "up" on in the last attempt. Also, the print to cut registration is off. There is now pattern to that defect. The parts that do cut, cut well. There...
  19. carriage moves over cut path, but no cutting

FC2250 Issue # 1. “TOOL POSITION ALARM” error pops up after cutting. If we cycle the power it goes away, but comes back within 2 jobs. Issue # 2. When the job is sent, marks are read and cutting begins, the carriage moves over all cut paths, but the tool does not go down and cut the...
  20. Problem with jv-33 post heater

Not sure what inks you're using, or the cause of the error is, but since the front heater is supposed to help dry the prints, you should still be able to produce. Not sure if you're on a deadline either, but your prints should be dry after 24hrs. fans and heat will expedite drying Good Luck!
