  1. Biggest Mistake...

Not a big deal, but the most recent error was making a lot of promotional stuff for my band's last show on Aril 2nd. Really sucked because it was a nice looking flyer, and I made several very large posters. That part of my brain doesn't seem to function all that well while I'm doing creative.
  2. Retractable stands and media

Feels sturdier than lesser weights. It doesn't magically weigh more. They roll up fine. I don't hem banner stand prints. You asked why someone would use a heavier weight. I stated why, and it turns out it is manufactured for no reason. Just jabbin', Bob.
  3. Retractable stands and media

I use it because customers like that it feels sturdier. It must be the block-out layer or thread count that makes the weight difference, because the 15oz & 13oz both measure 0.013". It may be silly, but because I first used 15oz and had success, I haven't bothered to use the lesser weights to...
  4. Solvent printable card stock / poster board

Maybe it exists, but it doesn't seem so. No vendors have been able to offer anything, and they absolutely WANT to offer something. Specifically for solvent printing just isn't there. I've tried A LOT of stocks (I have access to everything printable on an offset press) and nothing works. Print &...
  5. Solvent printable card stock / poster board

Pressure sensitive vinyl? Print X#-up, cut & mount to appropriate stock. Trim to finish size.
  6. flatbed printers ink adhesion question

I have no adhesion problems on acrylic. I have several different adhesion promoters on hand, and they're all unopened.
  7. Retractable stands and media

15oz block-out. Done hundreds with zero complaints.
  8. Printers in the future?

Fluorescent. My God I hope not.
  9. Colorgate & Ultima SC-1400D

Great idea. I'm downloading it now. :thankyou:
  10. Colorgate & Ultima SC-1400D

I print to my flatbed through Colorgate 6 Ultimate. I can print the file with the proper marks to cut on my Ultima. However, the "stock" cut server for the Ultima will not install on Windows 7. Anyone know of the work-around? I've basically been told I can't. That doesn't seem right at all.
  11. Gerber Announces Discontinuation of all Flatbed Printers

The Ion has been a nice fit in the sign market. Low volume and distance viewing. Gerber simply didn't invest in the speed and quality necessary to keep it competitive. A solid piece of equipment, but TOO slow and offers a picoliter dot size competitive with crayons. I think it became too hard to...
  12. update for Joe.

I'll pitch in. I don't know Joe outside of here, but I like him. I've never been able to bring myself to argue against him even though he's usually wrong. I was sad to read of things... Know what I'm SAYING!!!?????)))))))))))))) GOD BLESS
  13. EFI Rastek T1000

For a small flatbed I don't think it's "the one" for the price point. I've read of a lot of reliability issues. I don't know this first hand, though. It may be a great machine. If you're looking at entry level flatbeds take a look also at the Mutoh 1608HS and the Gerber Ion. You may be able to...
  14. Eleven-Ten Static Cling

Thanks! I'll try the Avery. The G.F. 208 is what I'm using now. It works, but simply doesn't print as nice as I'd like.
  15. Anyone know how to save a painted sign?

    Oops.. That is correct, Gino.
  16. Anyone know how to save a painted sign?

I could be way off, and if I am I'm sure it will be pointed out, but I've had success with Polycrylic on A LOT of things!
  17. Eleven-Ten Static Cling

Anyone know if or who now carries what was Eleven-Ten's white solvent printable static cling? It printed very nice. I haven't found a substitute That prints as well. :thankyou:

  19. Window Clings

That's what I was thinking. I always instruct that clings be applied wet. No bubbles, and stick well even with the ink side on the glass.
  20. Window Clings

I've printed the same as usual (On white), and apply it on either side of the glass/viewing side without problems. Maybe it worked because the ink coverage was about 50%.
