  1. Eco-Sol Printing: Solid Colours - Tips/Advice

Less heat allows for a little more ink bleed, same thing with higher ink limits. Usually ink starvation is usually related to the dampers. Since the capping station has no bearing on the delivery of the ink once printing, it's unlikely to have solved the problem. Switching from bi-directional...
  2. Ink drops

Bad damper or a bad damper o-ring seal at the head. Since you've had trouble since a head replacement I'd double check the capping station height adjustment too. I've also seen droplets on the rare occasion that the head picks up a bit of fluff, but I'm assuming your machine is clean and...
  3. Should be an easy one...

It's pretty close to signpainter housebrush. Not exact, but I would say it's close enough for the majority of clients.

  6. Mimaki JV33-130 Review?

Mutoh, Epson, Roland and Mimaki are essentially the same technology with pretty minor differences between them. What kind of problems are you trying to resolve by switching?
  7. One or few VS several websites

I use a single site with landing pages for each different type of product that link directly from the ads targeting that product. I need to add a blog to my site. It definitely seems to be what google rewards with higher rankings now that they've cracked down on the link farms.
  8. pantone / cmyk bridge question

Definitely use the lab values. It's easily within the gamut of your printer. I soft-proofed the color using a few different media profiles and even the fastest print settings and worst white point media I use show it well within their gamuts.
  9. LG xign

I've been using the 7 mil roll-up film from ND graphics for my roll-ups. I think it's a house brand for them. Polybrite roll-up is the name. Very lightweight with a nice gray finish on the reverse side. They also have a heavier weight version of the same product called polybrite pop-up. Both...
  10. trax panel saw or keen cut

Does anybody actually use a sawtrax with the knife option, or do you typically have both a panel saw and a fletcher type system?
  11. mimaki jv33 error 04

Turn it off for a couple of minutes and then back on. If that doesn't fix it then go and get some lube and call your mimaki dealer. Your mainboard in fried. Honestly, that's pretty much what it says in the service manual. Having replaced mainboards before, the lube is my advice. You'll need it.
  12. Seeking Product Review

I'm not sure what these systems cost, but they seem to be the next generation of technology that will be adopted. Small format and ideal for an in-house set-up. http://www.memjet.com/business/labels/
  13. File size limits for JV33 ink jet printer

I have on rare occasions seen my JV33 stop mid-print for no apparent reason. It's usually just a case of putting the machine back into remote mode to get it to pick up the printing where it left off. Just as if you had an ink cartridge go empty mid-print, except you don't need to swap any ink...
  14. How much is a jv5-160s worth used?

If it still has three good heads they're worth about $4K each from Mimaki. Still, I haven't heard anything good about the JV5's. Seems they can be pretty ornery for the end user.
  15. File size limits for JV33 ink jet printer

That's less than 500 MB for the input file size. Who told you you need to reduce the image resolution for the JV33 to handle it? I would say you're probably having some sort of communication issue between the printer and rip that's causing it to cut out. I've printed panels twice that size on...
  16. SEALITpen vs 3m 3950 edge sealer?

I'll use the primer 94 and tape the edges with some extra laminate when I'm doing window perfs. I've never had to bother with it on a painted surface though.
  17. Color distortion at start of print

Definitely a case of head contamination at the capping station. The head is wicking up waste ink back up the lines through the head and until you force some new ink through the lines, it's printing with the cross contaminated ink. A likely solution is to lower the height of the capping station...
  18. Mimaki Black Fades Turning Purple. help!

It's your media profile. It's not producing a a neutral grayscale.
  19. CJV30 upgrade with silver

If you can print white you can accomplish the same thing by printing directly onto a cast metallic vinyl that has a better metallic finish than anything you'll get with a silver ink. Just knock out the areas you don't want silver in with the white ink. Plus it's probably cheaper to buy the...
  20. Tip for cutting thick stuff that the blade drags on

How does that impact the accuracy of the cuts with the media bowing between the rollers? Personally I use the feed table method which is a pain in my small shop. Your tip looks like it might work pretty good, but I worry about whether you're trading accuracy for a little time savings.
