If your gray ramp was close to neutral before you started making the adjustments then the adjustments were probably unnecessary. There's another method of setting ink limits using measured chroma values that eye4clr is familiar with. I've never tried it, but the theory is sound. Maybe he'd like...
A question for those of you that sew banners with a double needle machine.
What size offset do you have between the needles and how large a hem do you create with that offset?
What we're referring to is bringing the CMY grayscale back into neutrality or non-casted color. In other words we're making the grays gray again and not the greeny gray you tend to get with a standard linearization. That's the reasoning for taking the yellow out as it's the ink that most affects...
I do a nozzle check before every job and clean when necessary.
It really depends on how much you're producing each day/week/month. I've found the more you use it the more it needs to be cleaned. It may need twice daily cleanings if you're running full tilt over two shifts. Or you might be able...
Yup, change the ink limits and you change the profile.
All I do is print an CMY gray ramp without a profile while I adjust the yellow ink limit. I've found doing it after the linearization is best, but it requires re-linearizing afterward since you've changed the ink limit for the yellow...
Here's the file I used in the original thread:
As I mentioned previously, reds show the most problems and react the most favorably to higher resolutions and ink densities. If you use another image that isn't as vibrant and doesn't contain deep saturated reds you might not even see a...
Yup, it's still the same speed as 16 pass uni though.
I only use it for fine art reproductions on canvas where color is most important. I save those jobs up and let it run overnight so it doesn't impact the daily schedule.
720 x 1080 24 pass is pretty close in color gamut and quite a bit...
Different profiles for each image, same media, same inks, same printer.
What you see is just the difference between laying down less ink really fast (720-8 pass) and laying down more ink really slowly (1440-32 pass). Each profile has been set to use the maximum amount of ink that can be handled...
Here's a sample of how resolution can affect color.
This is 720x720 8 pass:
This is 1440 x 1440 32 pass:
Reds are the worst on a inkjet, so don't expect the same boost of color across the board. Reds always show the most problems and are the most responsive to slowing the printer...
Your drop_pos correct calibration should be detailed in your user manual.
I suspect your ink limits are set really high. If all your calibration settings are fresh and the machine is new it's the first thing I would check. Banding is typically caused by ink starvation. The RIP settings you've...
I find using the same profile for different number of passes very definitely changes the color of your prints. My ink limits vary considerably when using the same resolution settings with a different number of passes. You'll find a higher number of passes will allow you to increase your ink...
You'll have a heck of a time matching the Kawi green and even more trouble getting the proper KTM orange with most solvent printers.
The best machine that can handle those colors is the Epson GS6000 with their special orange and green inks. Or you could go to something like a summa DC4 which...
There shouldn't be any issues with ink starvation at those print settings. Unless there's some kind of issue with the delivery system.
Did you have the heaters on when you calibrated your media comp settings? I find this will affect the calibration. When was the last time you did your drop_pos...
I have a three step commute. Some mornings it can take a little longer to get there if I hang a left between home and the office for the morning constitutional.
A properly created profile for a 24 pass setting will allow you to lay down more ink and get better saturation.
Using a 12 pass profile with the machine set to 24 pass will produce prints that look anemic and washed out by comparison.
Using 24 pass and bi-directional printing (high-speed) will...
If you use the same profile for 24 pass that you used for 12 pass then it will lay down less ink. If you reset the ink limits and create your own profile for a 24 pass setting then 24 pass can lay down more ink than 12 pass.
That sounds like a really strange problem. Do you have any idea what the humidity levels are in your shop? Are you storing and printing the vinyl in a controlled environment?
I can print banners and within 10 minutes can put them ink-to-ink using a variety of banner materials and ES3 inks. I...
Check to see if they match when printed at a slower speed setting. It's not uncommon for piezo heads to suffer from ink starvation at faster settings. This could be what's affecting your color reproduction.
It's probably an illustrator eps file with a ton of raster images embedded into the file. They can get huge in a hurry.
I usually just pre-rip something like that into photoshop at a lower resolution and work with the smaller file.
