it is a nice little printer for doing some low quantity transfer and decal/label runs. If that's all you will be doing, great machine. The machine is perfect for the screen printer/emboidery shop to bridge the gap between the onsie twosie jobs and the 24 and up piece.
The biggest disadvantage...
maybe check with your dealer...they can possibly provide some help.
being a dealer, we were ALWAYS told by Roland and in service training, once an ink config is loaded, unfortunately it can't be changed back.
you best material for laundry safe is a heat transfer product. they were designed to be put thru wash and dry cycles. as for dishwasher check the specs of the vinyl you are buying...a number of them will work, but will most likely require some sort of lamination
yes if you choose neither it is simply a cleaning cartridge. Metallic and white ink are both niche products for sure, but i see more benefits of the white...clear decals, labels, static clings, etc.
just got back from SGIA and had the 540i in our booth...
i would definitely go with CMYK Lc Lm Lt. Black for sure. Print quality is amazing on it. Whether to go with white or metallic really depends. If i had to choose between one or the other, i fell white has the most beneficial usage.
my guess is because of the USB connectivity. I would think it would be conflict since the USB driver is exactly the same.
Versaworks can connect 4 "different devices"...i have connected a GX-24 and GX-300 and two vs300's to the same versaworks
