As far as getting screwed, I agree.....But Microsoft has such a foot hold they can do almost anything they want with their licencing terms on OEM....
When I tried to do this with my Toshiba, I was told the hard drive had to be the same as the original hard drive.....Because I could not buy an exact replacement I was out of luck.....
After you put in the new hard drive, install a new operating system....But as I am sure you are already thinking, this will cost you more than it is worth....
Then you are making the assumption that Toyota is still a Japanese owned company.....I can not say for sure but I suspect that a lot "filthy rich bastards" who call the US home own shares in Toyota....And vice versa for Japanese owning shares in large US corporation.....
You make it sound like there will be no differences in the number of jobs sold at a higher price versus at a lower price.....I think that is so wrong.....In my mind it will be easier to sell more jobs at a lower price....
Higher volume and lower overhead allows a shop to make the same gross...
No one seems to want to address whether or not asking for a deposit or 100% up front affects gross sales.....
There is no doubt that such policies help your cash flow but I am not so sure it makes you more money at the end of the road.....
I can not imagine a client calling me to tell me...
