  1. color profile

Raster link has a profiling module you can add to it. It's more expensive than the Wasatch RIP would be though. Double check your pricing on the Wasatch. Unless you need their unlimited version with all the various printer drivers, they sell packages for different printer manufacturers...
  2. versaworks

It's in the save options in photoshop and illustrator. I'm sure Corel offers the option as well, I would just have no idea where.
  3. Do postcards work?

Expect a 1% return and send out the appropriate number of postcards to generate a return you'll be happy with. I know it's much cheaper here in Canada if you just do a bulk mail to all businesses in a particular postal (zip) code.
  4. Daily cleaning solution?

Check with the 3rd party ink manufacturers that sell bulk ink systems and inks by the liter. They should have cleaning solution available the same way. If they list their inks as being compatible with the standard mimakis then it should be a compatible solvent base.
  5. Help with color setup on JV3-160SP/Onyx

Either that profile is corrupt or you don't seem to be getting any color management being applied to the image. That's waaaay off.
  6. versaworks

Make sure you have the "embed input profile" option checked.
  7. Pantone Spotcolor Replacement Table LAB

It's built into the RIP since v6.4 or v6.5. A version newer than I have unfortunately. It's just part of the way the RIP separates the the files with regards to shadow regions. I'm not sure if it's something you can turn on or off. It really doesn't matter if the Pantone values are in LAB. As...
  8. perforated vinyl install

Laminate with optically clear laminate and install dry. :Big Laugh
  9. Apple "iSlate" tablet leaked

The tablet itself will not be a stunning device. It's just hardware. The software implementation and user interface will be what makes it stunning. Then add in Apple's experience in delivering online content and applications and you'll have a killer device that will remake the netbook/tablet...
  10. PDF from Photoshop

PDFs created from photoshop can maintain vector based fonts and shapes, unless you flatten or rasterize them. It's a crappy text editor, but you can use it for designing and have the same quality text and vectors as you'd get from any other application. The real limiter is spot colors. They...
  11. New wrap I finished last night...

I would have faded the orange to white before the topper. It looks unfinished with the white topper.
  12. PopUp from Fellers or other No Curl??

POS Pro is nice, but when you combine the initial cost with the fact that it really "needs" lamination to be durable it's just too damn expensive. I haven't tried it yet, but LG has an anti-curl product called XIGN that seems much more cost effective and is a solvent only product so it doesn't...
  13. Quest to expand my skills

Quark lost me right around CS2 and the time they started getting greedy with their update pricing. The first Indesign was a real resource hog. It worked fine, but Quark was twice as fast or faster at the time.
  14. Quest to expand my skills

It was a long time ago. A very early version for sure. We measured dot percentages on the film output from corel files compared to files created in Illustrator and found that when we spec'd a 40% dot in a raster file that was placed into Illy we got back a 40% dot. When we placed it in Corel we...
  15. Quest to expand my skills

I've seen some big dollar jobs go really sideways in the past because of some color "issues" with Corel. I'm a big believer of using what works too. That's why I avoid Corel. It's burned me in the past so I just don't trust it anymore.
  16. Black to Red fade looks Black to Orange

    You should listen to Donny.
  17. Quest to expand my skills

Illustrator has terrible text control. It's OK for a setting a few lines of type. If you want better control you jump to indesign. The trifecta of Indesign, Illy and PS as a skill set is a very marketable one. Corel might be popular in sign shops, but I've never once seen a corel file arrive...
  18. I don't deliver beer so I can't Install?

Epson does the same. It's why I got out of the Giclee market. The best part is when the old customer shows you the crap they did themselves and how proud they are of it. Went though the same thing with drum scanners and imagesetters before that. As technology makes it easier and the price of...
  19. New Back-up Computer / year 1986

Man that thing could save me so much time. It takes me forever to set the text in letraset and then shoot it in the darkroom to blow it up. Plus I think the chemicals from the film developer are starting to affect my health. I need to find a new supplier for the letraset though. All the sheets...
  20. Team Leno or Team Coco?

    Jon Stewart or Steve Colbert
