  1. print and cut

How long is the job? On long print/cut runs the vinyl candrift slightly from the front marks to the back ones causing misregistration. Make sure the vinyl is completely square feeding into the plotter.
  2. Excel - Flexi or Corel

I typically just copy and paste directly into Flexi from Excel. If this doesn't work, I create a pdf in Excel and bring this into Flexi.
  3. export as a .pdf in Flexi 7.6?

I would recommend a similar program called Primo PDF. It is a free download at primopdf.com. In Flexi, select the objects to be exported as a pdf and go to the print menu. Select PrimoPDF from the list of printers, and the software will guide you through the creation of the pdf with plenty of...
  4. Mimaki JV2- 130- any opinions?

Our JV3 runs full solvent inks We run Triangle inks that cost less than $100 liter total! It's not a desktop printer by any means! It does require 5-10 minutes or so daily maintenance and an additional 15 minutes or so on Mondays. But don't we all move a bit slower on Mondays?
  5. lapidary 333 and corel

That's right. You beat me to it, Scott!
  6. Mimaki JV2- 130- any opinions?

We have the JV3-160S. I believe the 130 is a 54" machine. As far as the 160 goes, it is a workhorse--a fantastic printer. We love it, and it has completely revolutionized the workflow in our shop and the manner in which we produce certain types of signs.
  7. Flexi 7.6 and large PDF file

That's true, Bob. But this file is a Photoshop pdf, so it isn't a vector file to begin with. At least, that what I gathered from the initial posting.
  8. Flexi 7.6 and large PDF file

I would open the pdf up in Photoshop and save as a tif. Flexi will handle this much better.
  9. Drop shadow "bounding box" printing

You can use Flexi to design, RIP and cut.
  10. Service Packs ? ? ?

I believe that SP2 includes something which intereferes with the dongle. You will have to install the new Hasp Driver, which you can download from Scanvec's website.
  11. Illustrator color/resolution help

You won't be able to reach fluorescent orange. But to find out what oranges you can produce, try starting with 0,10,100,0 (CMYK) and add Magenta in 5-10 percent increments. From there you can tweak the CMYK values to dial in some nice oranges.
  12. Heeeeellllllllpppppppppp

Also, for something of this size, 50 ppi at full size should be more than enough.
  13. Here are a few questions can you guys help

I get the best results from the Photoshop/Flexi combo by working in RGB mode in Photoshop and exporting the file as a flattened tif. Be sure to imbed the icc profile (I prefer Adobe RGB) in the tif.
  14. Need Illustrator CS2 file converted...

That worked! Good tip, Heinzen Sign! Someone was also cool enough to convert the file for me. Thanks guys for taking the time to help me.
  15. Need Illustrator CS2 file converted...

Is anyone willing to convert a CS2 file for me? I have Illustrator CS, but it won't open this particular .eps. It's a 552k line-art file.
  16. Croping....?

Oops... I thought it said "Groping".
  17. Vista compatibility

I haven't heard about Flexi, in particular, but there are programs that don't play nice with Vista. Quickbooks is one that comes to mind. Mostly this occurs with software developed prior to Vista, and patches are usually available. We are not updating to Vista until it is necessary.
  18. Anyone "Vent" their versacamm ???

If you are running a printer using solvent-based inks, you should definitely be venting the fumes or using an air scrubber. Even if the inks are "eco-sol" or "mild solvent", the fumes are still as dangerous--even if they don't smell as strong.
  19. Can anyone tell me if

We run our Mimaki JV3 from a dedicated RIP station using Flexi. Flexi has a great RIP, and we also use it for design so it was a no-brainer for us.
  20. Corel Essentials 2, Version 2
