  2. ? Flexi 8 - Upper Case File Ext. ?

Upper case extension is the default. I think there is a box you can check that says "Use lowercase extension". I prefer the lowercase extension, myself. You can always type in your own .fs when you save to ensure a lc extension.

  6. Ever get stuck with a .BIZ file???

Unfortunately, yes. I think .biz is some sort of Print Shop extension. Maybe you could have the customer save it as a pdf using a pdf plug-in like PrimoPDF. However, it may be easier to start from scratch rather than walk them through the process. Gotta love Joe Customer and his Tickle Me...
  7. Mimaki jv3 printing on glossy banner?

I would also suggest that you make sure the banner is square or even on the roll. Then pull the material out until you feel tension, making sure that the banner is running parallel to the media clips. I don't hear about this problem too much on the Mimakis, as the multiple pinch rollers...

  10. Printing on styrene with my Roland

I haven't tried printing on rigid pvc--only on .015 styrene like my post stated. I was responding to the original poster who inquired about printing on styrene. As for the unrelated barbs regarding my RIP station and color management practices--are you intentionally starting sh*t with me or...
  11. Printing on styrene with my Roland

We've toiled with printing on styrene with our Mimaki for years and finally gave up. I located a corona-treated .015 styrene that comes in 60" rolls, but I couldn't ever get it dialed in. I was always fighting head strikes. Sometimes, I could output a nice-looking print, but withing minutes...
  12. Flexi 7.6 and large PDF file

While no RIP software is without its problems, Flexi is a very capable RIP. It also offers FlexiPro users the option of designing, cutting and RIPing from the same software without the need for buying additional RIP software. It sounds like you are as comfortable and confident with Onyx as I...
  13. Greens R Grey

Anytime I hear that greys are either red or green, I immediately think profile. If there is a weakness in your profile, greys will expose it.
  14. Think customer-provided files are scary now??? Just wait...

I already do this. But I still prefer to work form scratch rather than replicate the client's Word document. Don't forget .eps Ken! Of course, the content of these files varies so much that each file must be judged on a case-by-case basis. For example, I've had clients ask in what format I...
  15. Think customer-provided files are scary now??? Just wait...

Powerpoint, Word, Publisher, Excel, Tickle Me Elmo Design Suite...arghhh!!! We see it all. A lot of clients tell me they have Adobe. When I inquire what app they have--Photohsop? Illustrator? InDesign? they just say, "You know, Adobe" What sucks is when someone spends hours designing...

  19. HELP! Problem printing on magnet material!

I concur with those who will not print on magnetic material--not only for the risk of head damage, but also potential feed motor damage. It's so easy to print to vinyl and mount to magnetic. Also, if you damage a print, then you are wasting vinyl only--not costly magnetic. Do a test print...
