  1. Source for Retractable Banner Stand that is Telescopic?

Just cut the elastic out of the three part pole. Use only one or two of the three sections to achieve the same thing, without fear that the locking mechanism on the telescopic pole will fail.

  3. Proof release form

Thanks everybody for your quick replies.
  4. Proof release form

Does anybody have a form they could post up that they use to have customer's sign off on prior to showing them design proofs. I'm just looking for some legal protection in case this guy walks down the street and has somebody else duplicate my designs. Low res proofs probably won't be enough as...
  5. printing small text with my jv33?

If it's in color you might want to try printing @ 24 or 32 pass for a smoother dot. Especially if the color has any black content.
  6. Computer upgrade ideas

An eSATA RAID Drive will increase the speed of your machine every time the hard drive gets used (which is a lot). Especially if you're working on files that max out your RAM use and cause you to have to use the hard drive as virtual memory. There's also the added benefit of more secure data...
  7. This is a really compelling idea.

When your client base is brimming with guys who choose the lowest quote, you're bound to lose them to the next guy who comes along for a nickle a square foot cheaper. I love my job, the stuff I create, I do with passion. I own all my equipment, pay cash for my materials and own my shop. Still I...
  8. Looking for a wall graphic media recommendation

Seems like there's a choice between a lower tack adhesive vinyl, wall paper type paper and then what I'm assuming is more of a cling vinyl in the jarhead type medias. I have a client who wants to put up an 8' x 12' wall graphic in their child's room, but they are looking for something that...
  9. JV5 cross contamination

Reset your cap height. It's sucking ink up off the waste pads. You just need to seal the head to the capping station's rubber lip, but not so far as to have the head contact the sponge(s).
  10. rasterlink question

I use a wasatch rip with their cutting add on module and a Summa T140. Print/cut couldn't be easier.
  11. Bless his stupid heart

I just had a customer call me up because he couldn't figure out how to use the stickers I just sold him. They were diecut and I weeded the extra bit off so they'd be easier to work with. He couldn't figure out why the backing paper wouldn't separate.
  12. Printing on LG 14oz bannux

Yup, same supplier. Bad media. I sent you my info as a reply to your PM. Go ahead and use my name. I'm not sure what's up with LG. The first time I used their intermediate grade white adhesive it buckled like crazy and nothing I did with the heat could get it to lay flat. A year or so later and...
  13. Not a "what would you do?" But a "should I do..."

He paid in advance, print the damn things. You can use watermarked images when printing proofs. Just call them proofs if your panties are getting all bunched up over it. Mark them as proofs on the back of the PVC if it let's you sleep better. Yes, the customers an idiot. Yes, he's lying about...
  14. Printing on LG 14oz bannux

I was using a JV33 as well. I called my supplier and talked to their techs. As usual they didn't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I thought maybe the weight of the roll was causing it to bend in the middle and not track straight, but even with a mostly empty roll it did the exact same...
  15. I need to explain to a designer why we have trouble with certain colours

So much advice in this thread and yet no mention of creating your own profiles. 289 is an easy colour to hit. It's well within the gamut of your machine. If the designer's RGB file has an input profile attached, it should be as easy as hitting the print button.
  16. Printing on LG 14oz bannux

I had the exact same problem. I was never able to resolve it to my satisfaction. However I found the best setting was to turn off the platen heater and use only the pre and post heaters. Even then I still had some wrinkling. It wasn't the first time I've had heat related/wrinkling issues with...
  17. FLEXI 8.5v2 on MAC, prints YUK!

Do you create your own profiles? Are the ink limits and linearizations the same?
  18. Bad banding JV3

Humidity shouldn't be very low. More like the 40-60% range as specified by the manufacturer.
  19. to my Canadian Colleagues and supply pricing

Yeah after moving from Vancouver to Edmonton I noticed I had to adjust my expectations of in-stock items and delivery times by quite a bit. Smaller city, not a port city, etc. Things you never consider I guess. I really need to set-up an account with a customs broker to take advantage of the US...
  20. Roland ECO ink not so ECO ???

The pigments used to color the different inks are derived from different sources. As mentioned yellow tends to contain a lot of nickle, cyans often contain some level of cyanide, etc. The VOC's are a different animals as they're a by-product of the solvent carriers that keep the ink liquid...
