Older versions? Do font designs get updated and retain the same name?

Just curious as to why image fonts are called wingdings or dingbats, and if you wanted to use one, what is the best way to find it?

Why is one font renamed so often? How does anyone keep track of that?

Have you considered setting up your plotter as a generic printer? I have read that it solves a lot of these issues with driver conflicts. There are instructions on how to do this in the VMP help files.

I think you're missing the right driver, or need to configure the plotter with either Corel Draw, or the Ioline Control Center software. Did you try to install the driver you had for Win98? XP will not have the correct driver for your plotter built in, so you'll need to install one. Here...

So far, my Summa seems to be working real good. It passed all of those little set up test cuts, and I cut a pretty detailed tigers head decal as a test too. :cool1:

That's good practice, and I used to back-up all the time. Then, I started to slip and I don't do it often enough. I do run two computers networked together and found it to be a lifesaver a few times. If one computer goes down, the other is used to do research to fix my problem. I'll be adding...

Thanks for the information datcat! So I guess for the time being, I'll have to use the serial port until 3.0 comes out. I wonder, is it possible to have the D60 hooked up with USB for the Summa Cutter Control program for settings (which works) and also the serial port for cutting from VMP...

Is anyone using this combination? VMP with a Summa D60 hooked up with USB? How did you do the plotter setup for this? VMP keeps asking me to choose between a serial port or the parallel port, and I want to use USB. :thankyou:

I think it will cut great. The specs on it looked good, and the price you paid for it couldn't be beat! I'm working on getting my Summa D60 set up today with VMP. Same here, really anxious to cut something too! :biggrin:

Maybe it's like asking for a Band-Aid instead of an adhesive bandage or a Coke instead of an artificially and naturally flavored carbonated soda. Maybe Summa is the word for vinyl cutters? :thumb:

Mine didn't do that, it just says it's testing something and then displays speed and blade pressure, but it does say the Rom Revision (firmware) in the Cutter Control Software.
