Might work for some. Maybe not for everyone though. Depends on the customer. I would imagine annodizing or alodine coating the aluminum gives an even longer lifespan though. It really shouldn't be that hard to find aluminum like that.

To me it looks like you run it all day. Then the roll gets left loaded in the printer. When it rolls back the hot media at the end of the day it leaves pinch roller marks. Unload media before the end of the day or start your prints after the first foot or so.
Not quite. It might defract some of the light so not quite as much UV light hits the image. But to say that Laminate is UV protector is false. There are laminates that are UV protective. But there is a huge difference between UV Lam and Non-UV Lam in the long run.

Wrap w/ gloss printable and then apply matte lam. The matte finish of the vinyl and your inks won't be the same. The best bet would be to laminate it with a matte lam and that will give it an overall uniform matte look.
