  1. Shop Music

The last shop I was in blasted pop country all day every day throughout the production area. Was almost the death of me. Also, you dudes should check out Killer Mike if you haven't already. He's got an old school sound.
  2. Shop Music

Our shop is huge, so most people just play stuff at their desks or on their phones. For me this week: Timber Timbre, Ice Dragon, Willie Nelson, Queens of the Stone Age, Kendrick Lamar, Big Business, Mary J. Blige, Anita Baker, T. Rex, Don Caballero. I'm all over the place.
  3. Backlit Signs

How are you making the dimensional letters? Routed? Make a template for your plotter using the same file you're using to route the letters. Then it's just a matter of getting your template in the right place and sticking your letters on the wall. Quick and easy.
  4. Best banner for wrapping truss structure

Coroplast with grommets. Seriously. Used to do a TON of race trusses.
  5. Discussion Pre 1980 brushwork of all kinds.......................

That was a joke about getting my kids out of the house. I seriously doubt I'll ever get the opportunity to hand letter, I have zero time. =(
  6. Peterbilt passenger door measurement

Seems about right, since the doors are 34" and change.
  7. Peterbilt passenger door measurement

    Andy, check this out.
  8. Logo on brick wall

It's definitely a dying art and I would love to see some pictures. There are tons of old buildings around here that have painted adverts from the 40s and 50s and they're (mostly) amazing, even now.
  9. Logo on brick wall

Sorry, Joe. I wasn't speaking directly to you, but I was agreeing with your post. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Personally, I would love to learn to hand letter, but just don't have the time. I wear several hats at work and have to wrangle kids in the evenings, so it's just not feasible...
  10. What is this?

That is what you call "garbage". Or kindling.
  11. Logo on brick wall

I'm sure for some people it IS super easy. I can drive around town and see plenty of examples of garbage signs though, professionally hand painted or otherwise. Being flippant and denigrating the amount of skill required to produce a hand painted sign devalues the work and our industry.
  12. Logo on brick wall

Sorry I called you out on your stupid comment. Forgive me. I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to get my car fixed, so I'm taking it to the kid down the street who's good with Legos.
  13. Logo on brick wall

I guess I should just let my dentist fix my broken leg or remove my appendix too, since they're both in the medical field. It's all the same, right? You know what? Why even bother selling signs at all? Just tell your customer next time to slap a stencil on the wall and follow the lines, since...
  14. Logo on brick wall

Excellent addition to the discussion. Thanks for the input, it definitely puts things into perspective for people who aren't familiar with hand painted signage.
  15. Logo on brick wall

I don't know much about hand painting, but it seems like it would be way more difficult to replicate a faded/vintage look by hand. I'd print on RoughRap (or similar) to make it easier to achieve the desired look. I'm sure there are ways to do it by hand, I just don't know what they are.
  16. What kind of work vehicle do you use?

Kia Souls make amazing install and delivery vehicles, believe it or not. They're pretty easy to wrap and don't look too crazy AND they're inexpensive.
  17. Any Idea How I'd reach this sign?

You must be a terrible pitcher.
  18. Shop Pics

Yeah, how dare anybody take any pride in being part of a team? YOU AREN'T HARDCORE SIGN GUY ENOUGH TO STEP TO THIS!
  19. Braille

You might be able to find third party attachments, but I seriously doubt you'd be able to find a universal attachment. I've never heard of one, but I have been wrong before.
