  1. LED 'Open' signs

EM Plastics carries them, but whether they have them in French or not, is another question. I know that Costco over the years has also sold LED Open signs. Maybe, if you're in Quebec, the Costcos there may have French versions... (of course, that may be a very naive assumption on my part... )

  4. "If you change X% of the design it's fair game"

Did you mention pie? Seriously though, when someone comes in blustering like that, it's always fun to bluster right back very matter-of-factly according to this formula. "Yes, but that only applies if more than (100% - customer-claimed % change) of the original graphic is known to be...
  5. How do we compete with this?

Well, Colin, we know where they will go at first. I have in my office a couple of those cheap retractable stands that are broken. They were brought in by customers who asked if I could take extract their graphic and make it fit one of our X-banner stands. I was going to throw them away, but...

  8. My first crowd source attempt

I am not content to let things lay as they are. If there's anything to be done about abating crowd-sourcing, then surely one thing would be is to taint the input. I voted for this one. heh, heh... Now, if everyone did, then eventually, those seeking value through crowdsourcing might begin to...

  10. trademark question

Blah, blah, blah.... B.S. -- Copyright protects intellectual property. Major slip-up for an alleged lawyer. The guy is blustering. When it comes down to it, any registered trademark will, by definition, be associated with some product or service. The trademark may, in turn, be owned by a...
  11. trademark question

No, it isn't correct. A trademark is not the same as a tradename. A trademark is defined as a mark identifying a product (goods) or service. Got that? The UPS in this case is not the Tradename. It is a mark identifying the service (parcel delivery) that United Parcel Service Inc. provides...

That is called a trade name, sunshine. A trademark may be designated by the following symbols: ™ (for an unregistered trade mark, that is, a mark used to promote or brand goods) ℠ (for an unregistered service mark, that is, a mark used to promote or brand services) ® (for a registered...
  14. trademark question

Your company name is already registered. Just as the Coca-Cola Company Ltd.'s name is already registered, albiet yours might only be registered at a state level, not national. As i've said, trademarks identifies a product or service. There's nothing stopping anyone from registering a trademark...
  15. trademark question

You cannot trademark a company name. You can trademark a product or service -- or even something that describes a product or service, but not the company name. i.e. Coca-Cola is the name of a product that the Coca-Cola Company sells. from: Trademarks
  16. why does stroke info change when graphic enlarged?

It doesn't sometimes because the creator did not set it to scale with image (as per discussion above). Neither do I. I always set stroke/outline to scale with image/resize. It makes sense to do so. Those that do not probably are amateurs or idiots. And it really is nothing more than that.

  19. smoothest scrim banner?

We use LG UltraSmooth 14oz. It's as smooth as paper -- in fact, haven't used paper in a few years -- once customers see the product and understand that for a very slight increase in cost over a high-end paper, they get waterproof, wrinkle-resistant and blockout, they always go for it. It's...
