  1. metal plaque on curved wall

Center a six foot level on the curve of the wall. Find the point where the ends of the level are equidistant from the wall. The width of the arc is six feet (your level), the height of the arc is the distance from the ends of the level to the wall. Use those measurements in a radius calculator...
  2. Anyone Using 27" Monitors?

I use a 27" 1920x1080 and a 22" 1920x1080. The difference that extra five inches makes is pretty significant. You'd be surprised. I'm not sure that a 4k monitor is really necessary for design stuff, but if you go 4k make sure your GPU supports 4k at 60Hz.
  3. How do I cut Max Metal?

Most of my experience has been with Dibond and I've never seen it catastrophically fail. The worst I've seen is the PE center fade to a grayish color.
  4. How do I cut Max Metal?

It's ACM? Just score it with a razor knife and break it, run it through a panel saw, cut it with a track saw, there are a lot of ways to cut this stuff.
  5. Need Help Pricing various CNC items

Definitely account for cleanup. Sometimes cleaning up the mess takes more time than the actual routing.
  6. Need Help Pricing various CNC items

Generally, most people charge by time or linear inches (or feet) for CNC. Some people charge by the sheet for X amount of cuts, then start adding on for additional cuts. Just depends. It's kind of all over the place, to be honest. Figure out your operating costs (if you don't already know...
  7. What material would be best?

You're not the only person that's noticed. I haven't been around here as much the last few months for that very reason. The community has gotten more toxic since I joined. There are a couple of repeat offenders. Padding post count? Know-it-all? Who knows, but I don't feel like getting into...
  8. Which CNC if you were me

I'd err on the side of caution, as well; no one can guarantee that they won't have issues with their machines. Having to pay a technician out of pocket if something goes wrong with the Shopsabre isn't going to be cheap.
  9. BEST FILM TO USE FOR COLD LAMINATOR TO AVOID BUBBLES

Laminating UV prints. We use Avery Luster a LOT and never have any issues, save those actually caused by us.
  10. Sign Company Management Software - leaning to SignTracker - need guidance

We currently use Cyrious Control and the previous shop I was at used it as well. It's VERY robust software, but it's not terribly intuitive. There's a large learning curve, but once you figure it out, you can do almost anything with it. It's pretty good stuff.
  11. Best Marker For Writing On Laminate?

Some varieties of dry erase laminate will take a permanent marker pretty well and then the ink will disappear if you go back over them with a dry erase marker. I want to say 3M works pretty well, but I can't remember for sure. It sounds like your customer essentially wants something magic.
  12. Opinion Any Opinions On Any Of These Laminators?

We actually went with the Kala Mistral. Thanks for the advice/opinions/suggestions, folks!
  13. Starting My Own Shop...

I looked it up, the cost of living wage in that part of WV is a little over $10 an hour, but the average for a production worker is around $16.
  14. Starting My Own Shop...

You'll never get anywhere if you don't try. Why make money for this other guy when you can be making money for yourself? Check and see what kind of courses are available in your area for running small businesses. Go rub elbows with other business owners in your area. If you think you can get a...
  15. Opinion Buying A Flatbed Printer

You can buy a lot of digital ready media, you may not need a corona treatment machine (I assume that's what you mean by UV coater?) unless you're planning on buying lots of very cheap, non-digital media in bulk. As far as flatbed cutters, we've been really happy with our Zund.
  16. Uv-led Flatbed Printer

What's your budget? What are you looking to get out of it? swissQprint make high quality flatbeds that also have roll to roll capability.
  17. Opinion Any Opinions On Any Of These Laminators?

Do you happen to know if the rollers are flat or convex? I couldn't find any info on their site or the PDF.
  18. Opinion Any Opinions On Any Of These Laminators?

We don't laminate nearly as much as we used to (we direct print as much as possible these days), but we still do large vehicle wraps pretty frequently, so we need something that can laminate two or three rolls pretty quickly and is going to work when we need it to work. Thanks for the input...
  19. Opinion Any Opinions On Any Of These Laminators?

Our Falcon F-60 has finally shed its mortal coil. More accurately, we paid someone to re-coat our rollers and they ruined them, but that's beside the point. For the cost of replacing the rollers we might as well just get a new laminator without all the bells and whistles that just does what we...
  20. Opinion Buying A Flatbed Printer

Makes sense. Not sure what your budget is, but check out swissQprint. They make some very high quality printers.
