  1. Opinion Buying A Flatbed Printer

I've worked with both VUTEk's H2000 and GS3250 and they've been pretty amazing machines. They have a few quirks, like anything else, but they're work horses. As long as they're maintained, they're pretty reliable printers. As far as quality goes, they seem to be at least on par with competitors...
  2. Help Attaching An Acrylic Sign To A Hollow Core Door.

I don't think anybody is suggesting that studs magically make something weigh less. They do, however, reduce the forces acting on the adhesive, effectively increasing the tensile strength of said adhesive. By putting a stud into the wall, perpendicular to the sign, you ARE decreasing the...
  3. Help Attaching An Acrylic Sign To A Hollow Core Door.

DUDE, I saw that part. The tape has less weight to hold because you REDISTRIBUTE the weight, which is why you use stud mounts when you mount a sign with VHB or silicone. That's the whole point of a stud mount. The two are related. Reading comprehension, y'all.
  4. Help Attaching An Acrylic Sign To A Hollow Core Door.

Uh... That's exactly what a stud does. What do you think the purpose of a stud mount is, if not to redistribute sign weight, bob?
  5. Help Attaching An Acrylic Sign To A Hollow Core Door.

Throwing my hat in behind the stud idea. Maybe if you could figure out some way to make toggle bolts work?
  6. Strange Metal Signs. What Kind Of Technology Is That?

Totally agree with you, but the pictures actually look like some kind of foam board to me (admittedly, I'm on a crummy monitor at the moment). Hard to tell for sure without getting in there on the edges.
  7. Strange Metal Signs. What Kind Of Technology Is That?

I'd say you're on the right track. Letters might even be foam (UltraBoard/Gator/Foamcor) of some sort. Those signs are pretty neat, to be honest.
  8. Buying New Printer And Cutter

One thing to consider is that a printer/cutter can only do one of those things at a time. You might not have a lot of volume now, but if you get into a big job or lots of little jobs, you might regret not having a printer that can run while you're also cutting.
  9. Yellotools Demo Videos

I ues a Longreach Duo every day. Didn't think it was something I'd ever need or use, but it gets A LOT of use.
  10. What Would Be Your Next Flatbed?

If we're living in fantasy land, I'd love to run a swissQprint or a Durst Rho.
  11. Opinion Not A Real Problem, Just Wondering........................

This is, unfortunately, a sad truth. That being said, charge cancellations, rush fees, print minimums, and so on. Customers will never stop being customers, but you can at least be compensated.
  12. Cutting Lots Of Coreflute

I'll second the Javelin recommendation. Used one for years, most recently used the Keencut Evolution E2 (which is like a Javelin on steroids and is amazing). The majority of our cutting gets done by the Zund now though.
  13. Spectrophotometer

Check out Barbieri. Saw some pretty awesome stuff from them at SGIA last year.
  14. Anybody Got A Bag Of Marshmallows?

Oh, man. I hope that pun was intentional.
  15. Cutting Through Scrim?

We generally use which ever one is open for the v-cut tool, but I'd say your best bet is the ZS so you can get it done quicker, since you're not (or shouldn't be) cutting all the way through with the VCT.
  16. Need Help Choosing A New Printer.

Depending on what you're doing, you might also consider getting a hybrid printer. Direct print capabilities would allow you to still do a lot of the stuff you can do on the Mutoh, but also allow you to expand into different markets you might not be involved in now or aren't worth the time thanks...
  17. Anybody Know What Might Cause This?

I must be getting old. I can't see what you're referring to.
  18. News Broken Heart

    My condolences.
  19. Can Someone Pleas Explain The Banner Scam?

This scam has been around a while. I've been dealing with it for over 10 years. The scammer uses a stolen credit card(s), so it WILL be charged back at some point. If you make $10,000 worth of banners, you're out the cost of the materials and labor, which you may or may not get back. The...
  20. Been In The Business For 15 Years. Anyone Else Having Shoulder Pain?

I also see a chiropractor/kinesiologist (i.e., a sports doctor) that works me over whenever I need it and it helps a TON. Been doing physical labor in some form or another for over 20 years and it's catching up to me now.
