  1. Thanks Insignia!

I've heard this can happen but I've never personally seen it or experienced it. Anything is possible of course, but in our experience it's not happened, again except for that one time where the static bonded itself to the tint. For the record, I don't claim to be the end-all authority on static...
  2. Merchant Warning - Killer Graphics

    Wow, what a difference!
  3. What gets you to the shop and back?

Muh Mini usually, although lately I've been driving the work Silverado and my wife has been driving the Mini because her Envoy Denali threw a rod... Yippee.
  4. Help! Mimaki JV33 - Banding problem! Please help

Try unidirectional first. Are you sure the canvas you're printing on is SOLVENT printable? You said it was made by Epson, but is it for aqueous printers only? Heat settings are hard to say, canvas is hard to print on anyway. We run Neschen Monet canvas at 48/45/50 though.
  5. Help! Mimaki JV33 - Banding problem! Please help

Give a lot more specifics. What profile(s) are you trying? Are you trying the same profile over and over? Are you trying the same file over and over? On our JV33, 720x720 profiles seem to introduce a bit more noticeable banding on larger areas of solid spot color than 540x1080 profiles...
  6. Help! Mimaki JV33 - Banding problem! Please help

is that the only material and only test file you've tried printing? Try printing 540x1080 unidirectional 6 pass and see if you get the same thing.
  7. Advice for printing on clear vinyl

On any printer that cannot print a white flood undercoat, printing clear is a no-go unless you are applying the vinyl to a white substrate. Inkjet printers print in 4-color (or 6 color) process using transparent ink, process printing requires white under the ink to render color correctly. So...
  8. Thanks Insignia!

Skyhigh, in the other thread Doug referenced, I said of the thousands of statics we've printed we've never had a problem attributable to heavy coverage ink. I've heard (although not from suppliers) about the concerns of printing full-coverage on statics but again have never experienced any...
  9. Thanks Insignia!

I'll keep that in mind for next time Doug! :ROFLMAO: Thanks for the kind words, I greatly appreciate it.
  10. what do you lube with?

LMAO at this thread. Once again, K-girl, you don't disappoint!
  11. Oh man, banner scam again

Refer him to Pat Whatley. He enjoys these people. Maybe he can sell them a washing machine while he's at it.
  12. Calendared + Cast combinations?

I wouldn't use 200 on 3850, we did once in a pinch and it came back within two months. 200 is a low end calendered, it's only rated for 2 years and has minimal UV inhibitors in it. Since then we've always stuck to cast laminate on 3850 translucent to be safe.
  13. Monday's Delivery...

    Congratulations man! That's awesome!
  14. Need a 10' banner printed and shipped Friday...

Did you try Indy Imaging or Georgia Print Co? Not sure about GPC, but Indy's normal lead time is 2 days, they may be able to squeeze it out. Ask for Steven.
  15. First Printer option?

Colin, My knowledge of the Sepiax inks is somewhat limited, but I was looking recently at the option to convert our JV3 to it, or rather weighing converting it to Sepiax vs. selling it and replacing it with a new L25500. At this point, we're leaving towards the latter, mostly because I'd rather...
  16. New Client, So We Made a Video...

Nice work and nice new client!
  17. Merchant Warning - Killer Graphics

As a merchant member here and a member who also seeks out vendors here, I have no problem with this. If I screw up a job, so be it, it happens. But if a customer makes every reasonable effort to get the goof-up fixed and I either half-ass a resolution or just dismiss the customer altogether, I...
  18. Houston, we have liftoff.

Looks really nice Dan, I like it a lot better than the previous one. This one is easier to read and flows better. FYI, a lot of the portfolio images are getting hung up and not loading...
  19. Curious About This Finish

Looks like LuminOre to me. It's like metal paint. Pretty cool. Sophistocated Finishes has something similar, but much less expensive. The effect isn't as good as LuminOre, but if you're good at faux finishing and combine a few colors you can get an extremely nice finish with it.
