We had a lot of adhesion issues with Oracal tape for some reason. The Takit brand from Fellers has been performing well on the banners that get taped though (99% are sewn anymore).
An hour later I'm still nervous about that.
That thing has to be swaying a TON up that high. God, even the dude behind him climbing up has to make it bounce. The tiniest vibration and I'd be crying like a little girl. I hate to be up 50' in a bucket truck that's swaying around, I can't even...
Welcome!
And yikes, did you pick up a headache. Those things "can" print okay if you're pretty mechanically inclined and are able to scrounge up parts. The problem is it's so old nobody really makes many if any parts for it anymore. I'm not sure but I think Kodak/Encad may have even...
I'll second Wypet is good stuff, the best affordable dry erase we've tried. I agree with Solok, it's erasable much longer than most others I've seen. Some markers work better than others, we have the best luck with Expo brand. Some really cheap ones tend to stain it.
I don't know anywhere that...
I pretty much see it the same way. You're right, business is business, if a company is buying so many signs per year or they feel like they need to have tighter control of their signage/graphics and it's financially viable for them to do it in house, I guess I don't really blame them. Part of me...
perfect in every way! I'm extremely impressed you got the phone number to follow the wheelwell arch so well, with the amount of stretching involved in those fenders it's amazing how well that fits and flows. Very good job!
Adding this...
What is everyone else's opinion of in-house corporate shops? Do you see them as competition? Or potentially viable clients? I sort of stated my view of them above, but I've always wondered what other people think about them.
Interesting, I see where you're going with that. I'm not sure I see it as direct competition with us though. IMO in-house shops aren't our competition, nor are they really potentially ideal customers. If one of my vendors sells to them, so be it, I don't like it but I won't hold it against them...
I think it's perfect as-is. I wouldn't wrap it around the back or even extend it beyond the wheel wells, I think it's clean right now and everything flows nicely.
JV33 has 3 (big improvement over the JV3!). On the JV3, I'd just turn the print heater down to about 30-35 at most. But we never print static on it anymore...
makes sense, I see what they're saying. I know for sure we've sent out several sizeable orders with 100% heavy coverage without any...
+1, or design at full size at 72ppi. 300ppi at full size is ridiculous, as is 150ppi. Almost all wraps are printed at 72-75ppi, 100ppi at most but even that's overkill in my opinion. If it looks good at 100% on screen, it'll look the same when printed.
We print a fair amount of static on our Mimaki printers with decent success. The stuff is really finicky to print, I'll say that for sure. I think the solution we ended up with was to reduce the print heater temp to about 30, but jack up the pre heater and post heater to 50. The ink still is a...
We've got several Fletcher Titans in different sizes. They work great, but I highly doubt they'll cut through 17mm PVC. It's basically a glorified utility knife attached to a ruler. Imagine cutting through 17mm PVC with just a knife, that's what it will be like...
For 17mm PVC you really need a...
Are you using SS21 inks or ES3?
Turn your post heater up to 50.
Consider getting a roll-up dryer like the Digi-Dri if you do a lot of banners. We have one, we crank it up to high on banners and never have a problem with SS21 inks. The inks do remain a little "soft" for a while but with the...
