IMO Signlab is one of the best programs in the trade. It has all the weed features, cutter drivers you need. If you design in Corel, export to Signlab as an eps and use the cutting features in the Signlab program. Signlab started as Cadlink when it was a cut program (plug in add on) seamlessly...

I print with a Falcon Jr and have my heaters as high as possible with out having material buckling. I print banners at 720x720 bi-directional. For 13 oz banner I set heaters at 45/45 use a banner profile. I like printing on matte banner material. It takes more ink.

Both are good, but my choice would be a Graphtec CE5000Mk2-60. It comes with a stand and plugin cutting software for Corel and Illustrator.

Do a manual cleaning of the print heads to remove lint or other type of "fuzz" that may be causing the ink drop.

My old PNC1000 used a 9 pin serial that came with the plotter. Signlab 5 should have a driver for the 1000. Export from Corel as eps, outlines hairline and import into Signlab. Or better yet just use Signlab.

Silvering has not been a problem ...... ever. I re-squeegee the print by hand (takes seconds) with a felt squeegee. I have laminated 36"x18' prints on a 10' table without a problem, alone. You need to get the front edge of the laminate even and a steady "push and pressure". Some laminates work...
