  1. Might get into printing the poly bag yard signs

Uh, yeah, what he said. They're usually printed on a flexo press. Nothing cheap to say the least.
  2. Wrapped our delivery truck

That says "Sticks". Or maybe you're making a point, I didn't notice it too much but that font does sort of read like "sucks" if you don't pay too much attention to it... I still love it though.
  3. ICC profile for JV33 Oracal 3165RA :)

If you go to Oracal's website they have profiles for just about every one of their medias for the JV33. Oracal's profiles are usually extremely good too so you should be able to print right out of the gate without any issues.
  4. Wrapped our delivery truck

    Awesome, great job!
  5. cool video

Yeah, my bad, been a long day... Fixed...
  6. cool video

This was posted over on Letterville, I thought it was worth posting here. It's worth watching all the way through. It's a 3D animation projected on a building, in the video it looks really cool, I'd love to see this in person. http://www.wimp.com/realisticprojection/
  7. Paying Commission or Percentage on Sales

We pay a small base salary (about $10k per year), 10% commission, and health insurance and paid vacation (which is sort of meaningless since it's a salary position).
  8. FedEx or UPS?

Good stuff, looking into that now, we've been saying lately it would be nice if you could integrate QB and Worldship. Thanks!
  9. FedEx or UPS?

We use UPS, around here they're much more reliable and helpful that FedEx. They have a software program called Worldship that we use to create shipments and print labels, it works but it's a little cumbersome to use sometimes. But it's better and easier than doing it online. I'm not sure if...
  10. Printer question

Are you primarily doing work that is indoors or outdoors? Do you have a laminator?
  11. Oh man, banner scam again

Thankfully it wasn't too bad, surprisingly the order was only for 50 double-sided 3x5s, we had about 5 printed both sides and another 10 or so printed on one side.
  12. Oh man, banner scam again

I'm just happy we didn't sell it directly to the "customer". Still sucks for my customer though... Ironically, my other sales person just said she thinks she started trying to quote this job a week or two ago (it was emailed to her) but realized fairly quickly what it was. These people get around.
  13. Oh man, banner scam again

Geez. I just walked back into the printer room and saw a bunch of banners printing on one of the machines, they read something to the affect of "feed the children." My heart sank, I got that vommity taste in my mouth, immediately I knew what was going on, someone here sold this job and...
  14. Need signs plasma cut

Out of curiosity, why not have Gemeni waterjet cut it? Too expensive? Look in your area, there should be a number of shops that will cut this for you. You could even laser cut it if you found a shop with a big enough laser, it's thin enough.
  15. Helvetica rant

It does freakin' rock. It sometimes creates additional work if the .pdf was saved with trim and printer's marks around the perimeter, then you have to deal with some often complicated clipping mask issues. Anymore if I know I don't necessarily need a vector file I just rasterize the .pdf in...
  16. Helvetica rant

I love Helvetica, it's one of my favorite sanserif fonts, but I feel your pain. For some reason designers assume everyone has every version of Helvetica ever made. so they never outline them. I've got one that always sends files with some obscure Helvetica Neue 67 semibold condensed or some crap...
  17. Who's Work

I was going to say look on www.signsneversleep.com to see if it's on there, but the site's down at the moment.
  18. why can't business cards be glossy

haha, I was wondering the same thing!
  19. Lowen... Your new local competitor.

Also not on your case but I don't understand either. What's the difference between that and me printing a wrap and shipping it to Sacramento to have you install it for me for X dollars? If you agree to be a subcontract installer for me at a given rate, in this case $500, will you be angry with...
  20. Best CPU Choice

I don't know enough about flexi to say for sure but I can't imagine a program like that can't take advantage of a separate scratch disk. I finally bit the bullet and got an eSata WD Raptor last fall to use as just a scratch disk for PS/Illustrator and I can say it made an enormous leap in the...
