  1. how do you fight the exhaustion?

Really there's nothing in them (at least the 5 hour energy drinks) that's bad for you. Like I said, no sugar or caffeine, there are a couple odd chemicals like sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate for preservatives, but these things are only 2 oz bottles, they're nothing like what's in any...
  2. Gemini Letters Re-Paint question....

Preferably sandblast them to the bare metal, prime with an automotive etching primer, then a filler primer, sand the faces between primer coats with 400 grit, spray a few coats of single-stage automotive and a few coats of auto clear. Will hold up great. If you can avoid it, don't use rattle...
  3. how do you fight the exhaustion?

5 Hour Energy drink. It doesn't have sugar or caffeine like other energy drinks, just an unholy TON of vitamin B (like 8000+ % of your daily allowance). It's in a really small bottle (like a shot), doesn't taste bad at all, and will keep you awake for a few hours at least. The best thing is it...
  4. anybody hiring in columbus ohio?

Interested in Dayton at all or do you need to remain in Columbus?
  5. banner help

You don't print a mesh banner on a flatbed printer (well, you could, wouldn't make much sense though). Outsource the job to someone who can do it the right way. You don't want to do this in 4 panels with mesh, it'll look terrible. +3 for Merritt Graphics.
  6. Vector Logo Size

It's irrelevant with vector images because they're scalable without image degradation. It doesn't matter if it's give to you at 1"x1" and you need it enlarged to 100'x100'. As long as it's a clean vector file anyway. Raster images are a different animal though...
  7. Bigdawg

Good to know he's improving, I hope he recovers quickly. Take care of yourself as well, it's easy to get run down taking care of someone else and that's no good.
  8. Caveat Emptor: (Thinking of buy Wasatch Softrip?)

You're right, they don't have to help someone out who spent a good sum of money for a product and is in an innocent pickle. Some choose to provide good customer service and help a guy out when he's in need. Other's choose not to. To say it isn't about trying to squeeze money out of him is a...
  9. Caveat Emptor: (Thinking of buy Wasatch Softrip?)

I dropped my iPod in a puddle actually and it got ruined. Apple sent me a download link to redownload all 3000+ songs I'd ever purchased, some of which were downloaded 3 or more years ago, with no questions asked. My RIP computer was fried about a year and a half ago. I could not locate my...
  10. Need some opinions, I think I stepped into a pile of you know what

Quote it like any other job, quote it assuming print ready customer supplied artwork. Don't worry about what the other shop said, just worry about how you do business. Explain to the customer the real 3M warranty (haha), show them 3M documentation about the warranty, show them in writing your...
  11. Mimaki JV5 Banner Material Warping Problem

If they're reading off that may cause it too. Without the heat softening the vinyl a bit to allow it to relax and lay flat, the tension of the material coming through the printer may be causing it to buckle a little bit. But that's speculation and I don't know if it would or could really cause...
  12. Mimaki JV5 Banner Material Warping Problem

Not sure if the JV5 has the same measurement for heat as the JV3 and 33 but if that's in Celcius you'd be best to lower it. We run our banners at pre: 45, print: 42, post: 50. It may also depend on the actual banenr material you're running. Cheaper bargain brands tend to not be able to take...
  13. Just a lil fishing advice

hahaha. I'm not a fisherman but that almost makes me want to take it up! Seriously did someone slingshot that black dog onto the water or something?
  14. Non Scratch Media for Popups

Yes, your profile will definitely affect the durability, as sfr table pointed out, the amount of heat will affect how much the ink "soaks in" and bonds to the media, which will of course affect the scratch resistance. Not an enormous amount though, some media is just prone to scratching more...

Can you post a scan of a print so we can see how it looks?
  17. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

SJM, do you honestly believe an aqueous printer is a better choice for something like a wrap or an outdoor banner than a solvent printer? If so please explain. Not flaming, just trying to understand your point of view here.

  19. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

Well, Frank's right. They have to be able to prove that third party ink caused the failure and then they can refuse to service or repair ONLY the failed component under warranty, but they cannot, under any circumstances, legally void a warranty simply because you use third party ink, even if...
