  1. Here's a "What would you do?" for you...

Good job Pat, I think you did the right thing and it worked out for the best all around. Could have been alot worse!
  2. Transfer tape for PhotoTex?

Just did a big contour-cut piece of PhotoTex and used high tack transfer tape and it worked fairly well but it was still a bit tricky in some spots. It would be great if you could get real masking tape wide enough, that would be the ideal tack level, if you can't get it in logs, I'd say go with...
  3. Here's a "What would you do?" for you...

Competing politicians in the race, that's who. It's the rule/law that that info is required to be on there. They will go around and inspect each other's signs and turn offenders in to hopefully get them disqualified. It's amazing the level politicians will stoop to. Each election season we'll...
  4. Here's a "What would you do?" for you...

For election stuff, be they shirts, magnets, signs, cards, etc., it's required by the election boards that the contact info for the committee to elect whomever/whatever be on there somewhere. If you stick a yard sign out that does not have that info you can be fined or removed from a race. We've...
  5. Here's a "What would you do?" for you...

Oi. I'm inclined to say since you didn't have him sign a proof, if the typo is your fault, you might be liable for all of the printing and shirts too. He'll definitely argue that and frankly I can't blame him, I would too. If I were in your shoes and I made that mistake, as much as I'd hate it...
  6. Customer's Geometry FAIL

This is the worst. I had a customer become absolutely irate with me because I charged them 4 times as much when they enlarged their 2'x2' sign to a 4'x4' sign. I tried and tried to explain that 2 times 2 is 4 square feet, 4 times 4 is 16 square feet but they could not wrap their head around it...
  7. Retail Displays

    Nice work!
  8. A perfect stranger and a partial wrap.

You should feel bad if you're only marking things up 25-50%! I agree with what you're saying though. There's a difference between selling a commoditized product and a custom service and the two demand different price points. A vehicle wrap should cost alot more than just time and materials...
  9. Looking for Wholesaler of banner with banner stand

Like dye-sub fabric? If so, I highly recommend Orbus. Creative Banner Assemblies is also good. Or is that not what you're referring to?
  10. Very Long Sign - need some ideas

Let the RIP tile it in 4x8 sections, just make sure the boards are exactly 8' long and make sure you mount as accurately as possible.
  11. reason #3546576 why I dont like farmimg work out!!!!

This is a perfect example of why it's important to understand what equipment your vendor uses and what that equipment's capabilities are. If the company you outsourced to is primarily a billboard printer that still runs Nur Blueboards for example, what may look amazing to them may not meet your...
  12. White translucent???

I'd either go with black blockout or translucent black. There are people that will say you can use regular opaque black but I disagree. Translucent vinyls transmit and disperse light differently than opaque vinyl. Opaque vinyl isn't 100% opaque, so some light may show through, but it'll be...
  13. White translucent???

Is the white going to light at night? If so, yes, you must use translucent white. Do not use regular white, it'll look terrible.
  14. Customer Complaint -"Sign Flickers"

wowzers. I'm thinking that's not to code...
  15. Partial Wrap for HVAC company-

That would realistically be an easier installation going the full wrap route. You'd save a little vinyl by nesting individual parts and doing it all as print/cut but not a ton, and the installation would be every bit as time consuming as just wrapping it... I'd do two horizontal panels and hide...
  16. Partial Wrap for HVAC company-

    Couldn't be more perfect!
  17. Foreclosed houses....

Been there too. My wife and I looked at a fantastic house out in the country last year. It was a 4 BR house with a nice barn on about 6 acres. In a good economy it would sell for $300k+ easy. It was in foreclosure and for sale for $149k. On the outside it was perfect. Inside it was literally...
  18. myriad look alike -

Looks pretty close to Myriad to me if it's not. We do alot of work for the local AAA and we've always just used Myriad for subcopy.
  19. Speed

None of the things in your poll really take that much time, it's all the other crap that interrupts performing those listed tasks that slows everything down. If I could sit down completely uninterrupted I'm pretty sure I could do an entire 10 hour day's work (order processing, prepress, file...
  20. 3M problem or install problem.

I agree it's damage from washing or spillage because it's only on the top edges. I doubt it's got anything to do with outgassing or ink curing because there's a healthy white margin around the edges and that's where the laminate is lifting and the vinyl is coming up.
