  1. Best vinyl/lam for a FULL vehicle color change?

Wait, huh? If $300 for a maaco paint job is too spendy you're really not going to like the cost of wrap vinyls and laminates...
  2. Shipping Product

Look locally for a box company, most cities have several places. If not, group your Uline orders together, order enough of what you need for a year, bite the bullet and pay the freight. In the long run it's still cheaper than having to redo one or two signs because of failed homemade packaging.
  3. 48" prism jet extra ???

They're OK, just a rebranded Mutoh Falcon. They print well but they're slow and can be frustrating. They're probably better for you if you're somewhat mechanically inclined and can do you own repairs and maintenance though. For a first printer, it'll either teach you alot and get you ready for...
  4. using magnets for instead of masking tape?

Make 'em. I bought a bunch of magnets from Home Depot, they're about 2"x1"x.5". i just wrapped them in duct tape and they work great. Magnets make installing wraps alot easier than tape alone.
  5. box truck alum is leaking onto wrap

It's oxidation from the raw aluminum. We've had decent success cleaning it off of graphics with Rapid Prep, it's mild enough it won't damage the vinyl. but the stuff is stubborn. I've heard of people clearcoating the raw aluminum to help avoid the oxidation streaking, but I've never tried it so...
  6. Who is running their Mimaki 24/7?

Probably the difference between the JV33 and JV5 in the first place. If you shop around you can get smoking deals on demo JV5s for in the mid $20k range. I know that's still a whole lot more than a new or especially a used JV33, but it's a heck of alot of printer for the money. I'd say if...
  7. Time to renew our yellow-pages ad

Phone books are becoming obsolete very very quickly. There is still an "old school" sector that uses them, but that group is shrinking. As much as I hate it sometimes, more and more people go to the internet. Investing in search engine optimization, social media, etc., are better investments in...
  8. Who is running their Mimaki 24/7?

We've run our JV3 and JV33 like that a few times without any trouble, but I wouldn't run them like that all the time month after month, they're not made for that kind of volume. But I have to agree with prowraps, with a job like that you should easily be able to justify bringing in an additional...
  9. Wholesale printing, charging for waste?

There are definitely some medias where keeping every conceivable roll size in stock is unrealistic, IJ180C is a perfect example. With something like wrap material, the only real universal common width is 52" roughly, so it's unrealistic to expect a wholesaler to have 24", 36", 48", 54", 60" etc...
  10. Wholesale printing, charging for waste?

Run the job on the appropriately sized media, or nest it with other jobs to maximize media. It's wasteful for you and especially for your customer to run a 24" banner on 54" material. If you don't have the work to nest it with other jobs, and you don't stock other sized rolls to accommodate...
  11. A Fun Little Fleet

Nice looking fleet! Sorry to be a thread pirate, but tell me a bit more about the photo backdrop in the first photo. We're getting ready to set up a permanent backdrop / photo area here so we can quickly and easily set up every project we make and get a professional looking photo of it, if...
  12. Light Band Across Prints

Is that in the scan width or the feed direction? If it's in the feed direction (perpendicular to the movement of the head) try cleaning your encoder strip.
  13. how does one determine if you need a new head?

you might try changing your capping station too...
  14. Beverage of choice?

Margarita rocks (if you're ever in Dayton OH, visit Elsa's restaurant, they have the Bad Juan Margarita that will knock you down, in fact they have a limit of 3 per person) Any decent wine, Pinot Noir preferably water And I'll add a fourth to make Mosh feel less lonely... I love a good...
  15. Banner Sales Volume

I'd reckon the salesperson who sold that job is having a good month this month...
  16. Banner Sales Volume

So am I doing my math right (assuming those are 48" rolls) that that's a 795k sq. ft. job? If so then well done sir!
  17. What happened to this banner?

Yep X2, banner material gets very brittle when it's cold out, if it's hung too loosely and has enough flex it will crack just like that. Never warranty a banner, especially one that's customer installed, this is fairly common in the winter.
  18. $20 Dollar, No Hollar

Is it just me or does the silver on the Red Bull helmet look like strips of duct tape laid on there?
  19. www.desotowrapworld.com

:clapping: Where are the boys from K6 anyway? They so rarely post on here anymore and I always look forward to seeing their work.
  20. Yukon Wrap

Main Craig, if it weren't for the lack of ((((((((((((((((((((s I'd have sworn OP hijacked your account tonight... Chachimacho, the design's a little bleh, but it looks like you didn't lose your touch installing. Those door handles can make perfect alignment really difficult when you're doing a...
