I don't have a photo, but I'm running a Royal Sovereign with heat assist on the top roll. The webbing is the same I've used for every other lamination job: Film feeds off the bottom of roll in back, goes under the steel tension bar, where the release liner separates from the film at about a 60...
I printed the whole thing on my Roland VP 540 using Avery EZ apply and let it outgas for 24 hours. When I tried laminating with Avery DOL 1060, everything went south after a few feet. The printed vinyl surface was rubbing against the feeder bar of the laminator, and it sounded like a guy in a 3...
I was on the final panel of a trade show booth print job, and the colors became faded and discolored on the last 5 feet of media. It wasn't a clogged print head either, it was something to do with the media on the end of the roll. It was Optima 18 mil rigid PVC, and I had to order another $280...
Our new sales guy brought the client with him. He was doing these before with color copies, a hand crank laminator and peel & stick card stock in the past.
The final piece has a 7x10 printed vinyl graphic with 1/2" of gold foil border mounted to an 8.25x11.25 wooden plaque blank. This order is for 20, but we apparently have 100's of these to do in the coming weeks, so I need to establish a consistent workflow.
How would you guys approach this...
The vinyl is Optima's Opti-Solv PVC Display film, 18mil thickness
The lam. is Optima's Opti-Koat 5mil Crystal Finish
According to my supplier, these two materials should be compatible.
I think the slight edge peel that happened when I trimmed the panels after lamination is due to the...
Is there any way around this? I guess the blade distorts the PVC sheet instead of making a clean cut, and that distortion caused the 1/16" to peel? Would an edge sealing pen fix this problem?
I printed some trade show booth panels on 18 mil rigid PVC, then applied OptiKoat 5mil crystal laminate. We cut the panels, applied the velcro and magnetic strips, and sent it all out the door, and everything was fine. The customer said that during and after the show (3 days later) the film...
I used four small mirror boxes to package a stack of 3'x4' coro panels just this afternoon, and it worked pretty wel, but didn't seem like the most efficient solution.
I have also struggled with the packaging issue over the years. It seems like most of the jobs I have to ship are the oddball...
My customer wants a quote for double sided 18x30 real estate signs that are printed two up, folded over and riveted to make an envelope. Then, they slide over a steel frame. I've never heard of doing this, and would suggest a simple double sided 18x24 bolted onto an R-Frame. They sent a link to...
The customer has asked me about attaching banner trak to stucco walls. Unusually high winds in Knoxville yesterday caused the banner to rip toggle bolts out of stucco facade and blow halfway across their parking lot. Seems like similar wind could have ripped banner and banner trak out of stucco...
I have printed a couple 21' long banners for a furniture store lately, and there have been problems lining up the grommets with bolts placed at odd intervals on the exterior wall. Using the measurements our salesman took from the top of a ladder with arms extended way over his head, I placed...
I had a customer who wanted a sandwich board with dry erase panels and a metal frame by this Friday. Our salesman, naturally, said "no problem". Meanwhile, I have run into brick wall after brick wall trying to get these in stock. Most vendors I've found that sell metal A-Frames can't ship them...
Do you mean using banner tape around all 4 edges? It seems like printing several panels an taping them together will be more of a hassle than doing it all in one piece and using the scroll method to tape/grommet on my 16' of work table.
Also, what exactly are the nail-plastic-rivet things...
I am a one man shop in that I run the large format division of a print shop. The customer actually owns two cherry pickers, and has offered to do the installation themselves if I provide them with instructions.
I've never dealt with mesh banner material, so I'll have to do a little more...
