loading an icc is possible in every version (I think). My bigger point is that you need to do more than load an ICC. You need to be able to create the Media Profile. It contains an ICC and a whole lot more as I outlined above.
So your question should be "can I create a Media Profile?", not just...
Not true. I always use ProfileMaker instead of their flawed icc generation.
I don't know about you, but I feel very frustrated by this on your behalf. See if they'll swap you at no charge.
Yes, it is kind of hidden. I made a couple of profiles for a customer a few weeks ago with flexi and it took me a few minutes to find the utility. But he did have the full Pro version.
I have to confess a very quick skim on the nazdar article (which is very informative), but it looks like it ignores K in the grey balance.
Our inkjet black inks can have several points of chroma by themselves and would definitely skew efforts at tight grey balance. Did I miss something in my 60...
There is a big difference between an icc and a media profile. You need the media profile, that as you said "has everything built into it".
Sounds like you've got the expensive stuff sorted out with ProfileMaker and a proper spectrophotometer. Now you've got to go through the entire process of...
what you need are "media profiles". This includes an icc within them, but are only useful onboard the printer. You don't, in fact you can't use them on your computers.
There is a simple method in the web interface for you printer to upload the media profile you get from HP.
If you are using a...
Do you mean they are not straight lines? That's normal and the entire reason you're linearizing.
If you are testing your linearization results by measuring the results of the linearization, don't expect Flexi to give very linear results. Personally I don't think editing the results is worth the...
Can of worms here.
You are creating a single part of what needs to be an overall "media profile". This is not to be confused with an ICC profile.
You use Flexi's profile wizard thingy to generate the media profile, media setting, media preset (whatever they call it). Then you go through the...
preserve = YES
It is in line with what's been said so far. Leave the final conversion step to your RIP and use the design/adobe apps to funnel incoming files into your in-house workflow.
Historically, it is extra unless you have the full Production House version.
You can build the icc in software outside of onyx like EyeOne, ProfileMaker, or Monaco. Then import the icc into your media model.
Tilo is spot on.
Let's talk output only right now from Ill -> RIP. Do as Tilo says exactly. Otherwise, what may be going on is Ill converts to from your working space to the printer profile you built, then the rip does the exact same conversion again. This will likely produce some spectacularly...
First, sort out the simple workflow....Only convert your file from it's native RGB or CMYK working space to the printer's output profile ONCE! This seems obvious but is a common mistake when you're first getting started. Another way to present this is do not convert to the output profile in Ill...
