  1. Summa Tangential vs Drag

We've had a couple of Summacut plotters over the years and while they've been fabulous workhorses, sometimes running all day for days on end, lately I've been thinking of upgrading to a T series tangential cutter. Just wondering who has experience of both types or even the T series only. We...
  2. Perf/OWV on 360s - holes filling with ink

Anyone else having issues with ink covering the holes in perf? Mainly the darker areas of print, and worse when I increase density as you do on this stuff. Using the canned HP One-View Perf profile. Funnily enough doesn't happen on the 25500 so I suspect it's to do with the optimiser.
  3. Knifeless for chrome

I'm just about to test a bit of Avery chrome on one of my bikes and it will need to have a contour cut on the tank. Is there a knifeless tape that will cut it? When laminated it's pretty thick and tough. I tried some designline and the filament just broke. What do you experienced wrappers...
  4. Geekwraps service.

I ordered a bunch of their admittedly very nice squeegees two months ago. Charged me $56 for freight but with international orders you get that. They still haven't arrived. So I chased them up recently and apparently it's my fault. "Unfortunately, once the package leaves our office, it's...
  5. Compactus Wrap

Something a little different. The client is a digital video hire place and this is one of their test patterns. They supplied art. Everyone was happy. It all lined up pretty well. I used an air release polymeric.
  6. Transporting XJ-740 - lost printhead lock

I sold our 740 and the buyer is coming to collect in a week or so. Thing is I can't find the blue printhead lock anywhere. Is there another way to secure the thing for trucking 3-4 hours away or do I need to get one?
  7. Has anyone found an uncoated paper for the L360?

The cheapo poster paper that runs so well in the 25500s doesn't like the new 360. It buckles, head strikes then if you get the temp/pass rate just right to minimise the cockling you get a strange pattern in solid ink in certain light angles. The HP Photorealistic Poster Paper seems to have the...
  8. Heat transfer onto leather.

I have some friends who make and sell leather motorcycle gear. They have bought a cutter and heat press but have no clue about using the right film for leather. Does anyone have experience or knowledge on a product that works well? Printable or coloured film. Thanks in advance.
  9. L25500 won't boot up.

I'm halfway through a big print run of posters. Loaded a 100m roll of paper - it's heavy. The roll slammed into place, and an error immediately came up. I didn't write it down but think it was 01.03 Restarted it and now it goes straight into the 79:04 error every time. I'm guessing the...
  10. Decals for UFC octogon pads

Would it need to be a super sticky like Arlon DFP8000 or will normal print vinyl do?
  11. Is there a trick to getting Soljets print all panels the same length?

We're having issues with tiled jobs printing the panel different lengths. Our HP latex printers are quite accurate but Arlon DPF8000 makes a mess in them.
  12. Arlon Carbon Fibre WTF

I realise Arlon's adhesive is a little more aggressive than 3M or Avery but this is ridiculous. Doing a friend's car roof the other day... hinged in half, laid half gently on the roof. A few creases so went to lift it up to smooth it out but nup. It stuck. Lifting with a little more force...
  13. Summa Winplot & Illustrator CC

I installed Illustrator CC and the Winplot plugin doesn't seem to show. I reinstalled the latest version of Winplot. Anyone know what's up? CS6 is still running but it's a bit of a pain to have to go back to it all the time.
  14. There's one born every minute apparently

I got this email last week about a fabulous offer to get me MORE WORK. I replied saying "I'm already getting far better Google results than your lame page. So why would I?" to which he sounded a little offended. Check out the site. It's like some 14 yo kid has knocked together in 10...
  15. Avery Supreme Wrapping Film adhesive

We've not used any of this stuff yet. I'm quoting a job and flicking through the swatch book just noticed the samples all have clear adhesive. I'll be going over some striping with white so the stripes will show through. Weird. I'd have thought grey glue would be standard for vehicle...
  16. Van Astroturf wrap - ideas or suggestions

Run for your life is probably gunna be thrown at me but I'm up for a challenge if it's possible. Customer has an old van, just about at the end of its life, and they want to dress it up as a kind of mobile billboard. They like the look of this and want to know if it's possible.... thoughts...
  17. Printable patch media to sew onto leather race suits.

I have a friend who makes & repairs leather motorbike outfits and asked if I could print some patches for her to sew onto them. Yes, I know there's no money in it but I like her and would like to do her a favour. I did a couple of small ones on some banner media but she showed me a sample...
  18. Avery MPI 1005/ HP L25500 grief

We've had an ongoing issue with Avery MPI 1005 wrap film not printing well on our L25500. See pics. The ink won't lay down evenly, especially in dark areas/blacks. Funny thing is it seems to come good if we print 2-3 metres. Which isn't the most economical way to operate. We had no problems...
  19. Bus wrap

This is our biggest wrap job to date. The client supplied the art. They also took the "after" photos.
  20. Coolifying Spotify Sydney Offices.

We haven't done any of this for a while, then two printed frosted film jobs in the same week. This was done for Spotify, the internet music providers.
