  1. Need Help Versaworks 6.9 rip time

Sorry, I have no clue, I've never bothered to remove the profiles I don't use, I just ignore them. You'd have to ask Roland
  2. Need Help Versaworks 6.9 rip time

Do you mean in VersaWorks? I wouldn't suggest deleting them until you've got a replacement, but I imagine you could probably delete them in the Media Explorer window (under Media in VersaWorks), either by right-clicking and choosing "delete" or hitting the trash can. Here's Roland's support on...
  3. Need Help Versaworks 6.9 rip time

Well ideally you'll have an opportunity to create your own profiles for your machine, that would give you the best result. But you can download ICC profiles from different manufacturers websites (3M, Avery) or use Roland's profile site and indicate which media you use. Profiling your own...
  4. Need Help Versaworks 6.9 rip time

I mean your ICC profile in VersaWorks - like the media type dropdown menu that you'd change depending on which media you're using.
  5. Ever feel like giving up before you really got started?

Ooof. There's definitely a steep (and expensive!) learning curve. I am a graphic designer 15 years, with a BFA that helps with hands on stuff, but only in signage for 3 years. It took ages to gain confidence with material handling and installation, and I'm still learning every day. But, you're...
  6. Need Help Versaworks 6.9 rip time

Do you have a strange profile set? I have one or two profiles that just take ages for whatever reason.
  7. What do you consider "color matching"......?

We lost a huge client from a poor color match that we outsourced to tents/flags (I wonder if it's the same source?). We thought to ourselves "how are they not looking at what is coming out of their printer? All they need to do is see it to understand the issue". We even provided pantones and...
  8. Drone video

Definitely none of my recent projects would be a good drone video. They're very boring.
  9. Drone video

I've just recently watched a video (which of course I can't find now) of a woman using things like fishing rods, zip-lines, long sticks, kites, etc. in areas where no drones are allowed. The footage looked great for her purposes - though I don't know how well it would work for signage!
  10. Laminator question

Sometimes our rolls of laminate spin a little instead of holding proper tension, and it needs a hand on it for a little. But we use a RS with old rubber bands that don't grip well. I don't think Seal should have that issue, based on my experience anyway.
  11. Poll... Is this site still slow?

Hmm last little while it's been very slow, but at the moment it seems to be fine. I don't know if that just means it's touch-and-go or if it's looking better. :O
  12. Need Logo Recreated

"Would you like to do an outer emboss effect, or an inner emboss effect?" "Yes" "... ok. What about, a drop shadow, or a outer glow?" "Yes"
  13. Need Help Home Made Weeding Station

This looks great! I also love your crib board. :D
  14. Gemini is starting to piss me off

We've had this issue recently; Our client's second and third office wanted an identical dimensional interior sign, and the price kept changing. We contacted them and apparently they had quoted incorrectly the first time. I think they let us have a second the same price, but the third one they...
  15. Retractable Banner Scratching? how to prevent

We've used a decolit product in the past, it printed very nicely and didn't have this issue. We do find some of the cheaper roll-up banners can scratch, especially if they're paired with a cheaper banner stand.
  16. Suggestions Looking for a laptop to run Versaworks. Best option??

I've had decent luck with Dell's laptops (XPS). But I do run a lenovo desktop at the moment. +1 to that i7 processor, agree that it makes a big difference.
  17. Which RIP software do you use ?

VersaWorks 6 (Our printer is a Roland XR-640)
  18. Wall Graphics vinyl...

Yeah, we just did our lobby with it, it's good for these large panels. It's sure easy to apply
  19. Wall Graphics vinyl...

We've had troubles with wall vinyl too. We had been using Avery 2611 for it, but we found anything that was contour cut or not a big mural was failing. It falls into a strange category of "semi permanent", as it's supposed to last at least a year, but it's "removeable" (but not after a year...
  20. Wrong substrate used, any way to salvage?

I don't think sintra is ever a good idea for an external sign. This for sure sounds like a alupanel job. But like Gino said earlier, following a code might not be a priority for anyone there, but I hope that you at least get a liability waiver signed in case it blows down and smacks...
