  1. Onyx job not showing in printer queue HP R1000 Latex

I’m filling in for my operator today. I’m having a struggle with Onyx this morning. I have a file that is set up on the correct material in Onyx. It’s a window cling with an under flood of white. My white print heads are in, the machine is operational and onyx shows that the job material in the...
  2. Question V Grooving bit to make french cleats?

Wow, I forgot to come back to this. Apparently our Facilities Manager just used his table saw at a 45 degree angle to create our French cleats.
  3. Usable scrap, but too much!

My wife asked: Did they give y'all (Texas, lol!) anything? I I said: Room to fit more work!
  4. Usable scrap, but too much!

I saved a stack for my teacher wife, but someone answered my FREE Facebook add and took -all- the rest for his small sign shop. Thanks for the suggestions!
  5. Usable scrap, but too much!

I have posted to FB for all my teacher friends. I’ll try the FB Marketplace for free pickup!
  6. Usable scrap, but too much!

Good suggestion. We were getting 48x96 sheets but our supplier ran out. I was wishing that we could sell something that fits the waste, but so far no luck.
  7. Time to research a plotter?

We're seeing the "suggestion" of sharp corners but the execution is lackluster. The square in the center of the circle on the orange vinyl has maybe (1) 90 degree angle cut out of (4) corners.
  8. Time to research a plotter?

We bought the Colex updated kiss cut tool. However, our results are not matching my expectations. That may be a learning opportunity, so I'm not blaming the tool. We're testing on Oracal 631 and the cut result is low fidelity to the the cut file. What feedback do you have to help improve our...
  9. Usable scrap, but too much!

We have been producing a repeat application that uses most of a 50 x 100 sheet of expended PVC. We’ve generated a lot of scrap pieces that are a good usable size but it’s getting a little bit ridiculous with the amount of storage I have. Is there any other practical use for this stuff rather...
  10. Need Help Contour Cutting for print then cut! Help on illustrator

This: CLICK HERE FOR PDF. is also a great resource for understanding how to set up contour cut files, back from when we had a Roland XC-540, but it applies for all cut file setup.
  11. Onyx setting up barcodes for print to cut?

YESSSS, That's what I was missing. If the cut contour paths are in the artwork from prepress, they may as well add the registration dots, though. I was thinking that Onyx would somehow KNOW what to cut out of the artwork, but I was puzzled as to HOW it would know.
  12. Question Anyone use Onyx PosterShop 12 with a cutter? Camera Reg?

Look at you, contributing already! I have the same question, only we've had our Colex since 2015. We're currently on Onyx 21. I know that you have to purchase the Colex driver from Onyx, which was about $1500. At first I thought that was a lot of money, but think of the cost -savings- of...
  13. Onyx setting up barcodes for print to cut?

How do you tell it what to cut, though. If I'm contour cutting a circle or triangle or butterfly, how's Onyx know where to place the cut line?
  14. 1st Time Using HDU with CNC Router

Are you a Pro now? Any tips for another newbie getting into HDU with our Colex router/CNC?
  15. Install sign off or approval processes?

The install site for this job was at a client site 275 miles away. This is why we decided to use someone local to the area from the 3M certified installer network. Right now my wide format department is one operator for print and finishing, with my assistance as needed. a San Antonio trip...
  16. Install sign off or approval processes?

Completion pics were at an extreme angle. We did get artwork proof approval before printing.
  17. Flatbed cutter users - how do you estimate time?

I think I muddied this post my adding the example image from my other thread. On this thread I’m trying to figure out best practices for estimating cut contour jobs without having to run a file through prepress or create a cut file for a job that we may not get. I posted the crooked install...
  18. Install sign off or approval processes?

We agree that this is on the installer. I have on occasion sent an extra print, but I'd be curious how others handle that. We printed out client supplied artwork, pushed back about the blank space but they insisted. Plain and simple the error was easily avoided and we learned some lessons with...
  19. Flatbed cutter users - how do you estimate time?

Most times we don’t have the cut file ahead of time. See the image below for example. I’ll receive this in email and say we need 112 cut contour from foam core at roughly 10x12”. There’s no cut file provided so what is my plan to help estimating get a price quickly? Or in this example they want...
