  1. What thickness of acrylic for 5'x6' with 1" spacers

I usually overkill so I'd add two more.
  2. Looking for.. Replaceable letter for exterior sign

Gemini has the good one$. Mumpower has economical alternatives
  3. Wood, oil based exterior primer

Very nice sign. Are the birds' legs metal? As Gino says the best way to refinish is the completely strip the old paint. I would take it down and do it in the shop. We did something similar with a carved colonial "Bellringer". After stripping we hit all suspect areas with a marine wood rot...
  4. Question Weeding vinyl quickly : text

With serif fonts sometimes it helps to add a littler bit of outline with rounded corners.
  5. Gerber Edge Wont Print

New one on me. Do the little arms that sense the vinyl seem OK, go up and down no problem?
  6. Do you paint exterior acrylic?

Only if the color isn't available in acrylic. We did a job a while ago that had cut out acrylic letters in a bunch of different pastel colors. We painted them with custom rattle cans from this place. Held up really well...
  7. J-bar / hanging bar for polycarbonate faces

We usually made our own with a scrap of the lexan glued & riveted in place.
  8. How do I attach a large wooden sign to building?

As was said, you really need to check it out and find out what you'll be fastening to. The other signs may give a clue. But if you're concerned hire someone to install it, doesn't have to be a sign company a carpenter or handyman could do it.
  9. Window perf

I buy it wholesale, laminated. We also add a 1/4" clear vinyl stripe around the edge to guarantee it doesn't lift.
  10. 1st time Questions

We try not to do flat signs for a permanent business sign. I would do 3mm ACM on a 1"x1" aluminum tube frame with a raised aluminum molding. Not a lot more work but looks way more substantial. Then it can be installed with brackets.
  11. How do you remove Pylon or Post Signs that have become abandoned?

Some codes do require signs be maintained. But like abandoned properties enforcement is hard because there usually isnt anything in the code that gives it teeth. But if the code has provisions for fines it is a possibility. The other issue for the property owner, besides the cost, is once the...
  12. Plexi Cracking

Have you cut a lot of acrylic? Sometimes it takes the right blade and a soft touch. Drilling holes is a common technique, nit sure if it really works but it can't hurt. We have resin bond so thats what I would bond the crack with. Since it's hidden by the retainer if I was really concerned I...
  13. panel saw or track saw

We have a Safety Speedcut panel saw, one of the best tools in the shop. Only thing I'd change is the usual, wish I'd gone bigger with the 60"
  14. Mesh banners tearing in wind

Taped seams on any long term banner subjected to the wind are iffy at best. For long term mesh banners we have webbing sewn into the edges. Installing for other means you are only reaponsible for the quality of the install not the durability of the materials.
  15. tool suppliers???

I usually order "consumable" tools like squeeges, tapes, knives with an order that doesn't meet the minimum for shipping.
  16. Not to contribute to that mess being created in another thread

"I dont claim to know what the Russian people are like or life in Russia based off the news i see on television. My guess is Russian people are alot like we are." I have found some really cool videos from youtubers who post short videos about their daily life and friends/family in Russia among...
  17. Think it's too subtle? LOL.

I also prefer to use a less intenese color for the chisel, more like a real shadow. But I also hate names/slogans that are too cute or border on offensive.
  18. 16' In-ground Road Sign

Wow, hard to compete with quality like that :roflmao:. So what were those made with?
  19. 16' In-ground Road Sign

First, you are going to be told that you should check with zoning, if applicable. Second there are formulas for figuring post/foot based on size of the sign/wind load. That being said Ii wouldn't use 4x4 wood for this. I would use either 6"x6" or 4x4 steel. I'd use the Option C. But I might...
