  2. Dealing with getting price jacked on material costs

It is good to know pricing from more than 1 of your suppliers. When outsourcing work (where margins are thinner), it is wise to get multiple quotes on projects. It is risky to sell at a thin margin from the cheapest source, especially now with pricing so volatile. In this case, you would have...
  3. 3M IJ180 Controltac alternative?

Unclebun is rounding up to 1 linear foot x 4.5ft wide - that is a pretty industry standard way of figuring square footage
  4. Edward Jones

Sign and return the lien waiver, and you’re done. They can string you out for as long as they want. Yes, you can file a lien. Actually there is a preliminary step, something like a notification of intent to file a lien. I would threaten to do that if you don’t get paid in x amount of time...
  5. Retractable banner material

PET does not print well on the Latex. It is a great material for roll up banners, though. We print PET on our solvent printer or roll UV printer.
  6. Is Gerber stll solidly in the Sign Business?

Depends on what you are looking for your new equipment to do. If you are happy with Gerber, I think you would be pretty safe to keep investing in them. We had Gerber equipment for many years, but it has been replaced with inkjet printers and wider plotters. I can't say I miss the 15" width...
  7. Double Sided Banners

There are some lighter weight blockout banner materials out there. Herculite Bantex is one. We use a smooth (no scrim) material from Fellers - Suave. I'm not sure what wholesalers would carry these, and if that would even save you any money. I have found Indy Imaging to be a little less cost...
  8. Perforated Vinyl

We use this to seal the edges. 8914ES Edge Sealing Tape

  10. Quickbooks 2022?

There is a setting to up the time to 3 hours before it logs you out. I think the default is 1 hour.
  11. Can anyone tell me how to get pure black and not process HP360

I’m not familiar with Flexi, but with Onyx you can set up a custom spot color. We set up “RICH BLACK” with a rich black mix, then use that instead of plain black.
  12. Lobby directory plaque blanks

Looks like you could do either aluminum cut pieces from Gemini, or laser cut brushed aluminum plastic laminate for your substrate (Johnson Plastics). I wouldn’t sweat matching things exactly. Do the best you can and let the customer know it will not be a perfect match.
  13. Omega 5 excessive diskwrites

It’s been a few years since I used Omega much, but I do recall this happening on occasion. I believe it happened when importing a PDF or something that had a mix of vector and raster art. I think I solved it by importing the raster image separately from the vector art.
  14. Commercial restaurant awnings

  15. Discussion S60600 vs S80800 for Dirt Bike/ Sled Graphics as well as all around use?

Achieving perfectly neutral grays will always be a challenge with CMYK, even with very good profiles. Moving away from light black inks will be a downgrade if you’re picky.
  16. Searching for large concrete letters (resin, fiberglass)?

Yeah, I missed the “sitting on” from the OP. Maybe they could have a steel framework and finished to look like concrete?
  17. Searching for large concrete letters (resin, fiberglass)?

Any EPS foam wholesaler can do this - Peachtree, Benchmark Signs, etc
  18. Sheet Layout in Illustrator

I'm not a big fan of Illy's built-in repeats tool. Too many steps to get clean artwork. I have used PowerScripts for years. They have a repeat tool. It has auto numbering and other nice things as well. https://www.o2creative.co.nz/powerscripts.php
  19. Hardware for mounting signs to round pole

Thank you all! I found a kit on Grainger I could get quick, but I’ll keep these in mind for future use.
  20. Customers Not Planning Ahead is Costing Me $$$

We are talking about 2 very different types of clients/projects. The OP is talking about event signage, the "quick print" stuff. We used to do a lot more trade show graphics and event signage, and that was very stressful work, because there is NO flexing on the due dates. To keep your sanity...
