  1. Your Physical Health

I would highly recommend Physical Therapy. I ruptured my Achilles in the spring and was able to avoid surgery with PT. It is not cheap, but you should be able to get your boss to cover it with Work Comp. You need to remind your boss that many lawyers out there will help you get compensation...
  2. Question about Clear Vinyl

The correct way to make a backlit print is to have 2 layers of color print with a white layer in between. That way you see 1 layer of color during the day, and 2 layers (when you need the extra saturation) when lit up. Color-white-color inkjet prints are the best way. Putting a layer of color...
  3. wall wrap material

You are wise to stick with 3M 180 for wall wraps. We have tried removable films, too, with hit-or-miss results. GF WallMark 226HTR has given us the best results. We print on a UV curable printer with no lam. Laminate seems to be the majority of the problem (extra weight, shrinking).
  4. Graphics Question

I wasn’t suggesting to be flippant about throwing out prices. Sometimes customers aren’t very forthcoming with information, and throwing out a qualified ballpark price can help move things along.
  5. Graphics Question

I agree it is good to have this conversation, but it can be a balance. I find some customers get frustrated when they are just “shopping around”. Once an order is placed, definitely make sure to work out those issues right away. We build in a certain amount of design / setup cost regardless...
  6. Dibond Box signs

We would make this out of alum tube and solid alum sheeting. Like a post and panel sign. I assume they are meaning to score cut ACM to bend it and make a “box”. If you are familiar with making them out of PVC, I would just do that. Don’t let customers dictate your processes. You won’t make...
  7. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

Contact local GC’s and ask to be put on their bid list.
  8. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

Hey, now we have a winner! The bottom one is about $.08/sf, and it looks like free shipping. Thanks, guys! BTW - the adapters that Victor suggested are out of stock, so I wasn't able to try that option. I think it's best to have 3in core media from the start though.
  9. Considering hiring a full-time salesperson. Any advice?

OP - your website is terrible. I can't even pull up photos of your work. I can't stress how important your website is. It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive. I use Wix for ours and my number one goal was - make it easy to scroll through lots of photos. That is all that your customers...
  10. Fabric Awning Install on Corrugated Metal Bldg

If you got these wholesale, does the manufacturer have any tips? The only thing I can think of are flashing pieces, but that would be a little tedious.
  11. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

The other papers suggested are too high with shipping. It's at pricing for 13oz banner. I'm going to give the adapters a try. One salesperson told me to use core adapters, but I had never heard of them before.
  12. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

    It's got a 2in core - that won't fit on our printer. We need a 3in core.
  13. ISO 60in inexpensive bond paper with 3in core

I want something inexpensive to run paper patterns on our Epson or Latex printer. I have found a couple of sources for 36in rolls, but would prefer wider like 60in. TIA
  14. 3 Sign Shops Closed

This is good advice. You definitely have to be careful about raising your prices too much. You know your market prices and what is appropriate. Having a mountain of work is a blessing and a curse. A friend of mine joked with me recently (he also runs a small contractor business) about the...
  15. Max Metal ACM issues gone?

During the pandemic, Grimco's Max Metal ACM had a lot of issues - wavy appearance, flaws in manufacturing. The surface was not nice and smooth. I stopped buying from them. I presume they got it resolved? Now I'm having similar issues with another supplier....and Glantz is out of stock, so...
  16. Unexplainable stepping in HDU prism carved letters done on our CC 5F10F

That's pretty normal. That should sand smooth very easily.
  17. Need Help Why do illustrator drop shadows get saved at the same size as the artboard when converting to pdf.?

Ask your customer to save the file without the drop shadows. Those kind of effects never translate well.
  18. Have ya heard about this.................................................................?

I rarely used Tubelite, but it’s still sad to see a sign supply vendor get gobbled up like this.
  19. How would you make these table style signs?

You are looking for high pressure laminate signs, otherwise typical digital print signs facing up towards the sun will not last very long. As Bill mentioned, Fossil is a good source. We have used Izone Imaging too.
  20. s40600 printer showing as offline.

If your cable modem got fried, maybe your Epson did too
