The techs have a magnetic printhead cleaning tool (same one we have that the foam bad goes on but their is magnetic) so they don't have to hold it for 5 minutes while doing the methyl benzoate soak.
Step 1 in the tech manual for print head issue is to run a powerful flush, if that doesn't help...
Your test print doesn't look too bad, 2 weeks ago I had problems with a magenta head, test print looked much worse than yours.

I started my business with a capcom cutter from uscutter. Was around $500 for 54", worked very well and lasted about 2 years of daily use until the stepper motors gave out. Some of them do have registration mark reading capability
Yes I think it comes down to software, the "made in USA" flatbed I have is about 100% chinese components mechanically. I'm sure just about every flatbed out there is full of made in china components

Driver issues are common with new generation launches and the problems get resolved overtime. The latest generation for both companies is mature, most bugs gone. Can't go wrong with either one, AMD does give a little more performance per $$$ but can't quite compete in the highest end that's why...
