There is also a sensor on the back of the cutter carriage..It reads the same as the print carriage and hense will give you the carriage disconnected fault. Is why that encoder strip must be right and clean.

Ensure your encoder strip is tight on the spring and not bottoming out.

Just fit the new head, replace the damper while you are there, run a cleaning cycle or two, run the calibration tests to align the head and you are right to go.

The machine will boot up without those cables even being connected. Great to see you are back up and running though

Did you disturb the cable to the front panel? If the main fuse is ok and you have voltage on the main board, that cable is usually the only other thing that will prevent a power up. Disconnect all power, discharge the system using the main power button, wait a few minutes, refit the main cable...

No printer company has ever made inks. Inks are designed for printheads, be it dx2-dx7, zaar, hp, epson etc.

Pull the lower panels from the machine and clean the dust and debris off the fans that create the suction for the sheet..You physically have to dig the grime off the fan blades.

Check and clean the printhead cables and reinsert them. Be sure to power machine off before removal...
