+1 to all of the above comments/words of wisdom.
The only way I would be investing in a machine of my own is if I had enough work to run the machine at least 20 hours a week.
Any digital printer has more issues when not being used, but seems to be more reliable if you are busy.
My printer runs...
Well we have just finished our first full truck wrap with Arlon DPF 6000.
The material is great and sticks really well (read too well sometimes!).
But comparing it with 3Ms IJ180, it is an inferior product.
Yes it is cheaper and maybe a glossy finish than 3Ms product but to say this product is...
10sacer thanks for that, very informative.
Just trying to inform and educate clients as I am getting more and more numpties who come in through my door expecting that a wrap is a cheaper way to fill holes and cover rust!
My main issue is that wraps apply better to newer vehicles, due to them...
I am looking for a form to give to a potential wrap customer explaining how we need the vehicle when left with us.
The issues I am having is that customers are leaving us vehicles with damaged paint work, rust and in a complete filthy state and cannot make them understand that the vehicle needs...
Is their a way of showing how many metres the machine has printed in its lifetime?
I have an old Mimaki JV3 and I believe you can do this on this machine.
Just was wondering whether it was possible to show on the Mutoh Valuejet?

I think you can do this on the DX5 print head also by attaching a solvent manifold.
But the manifold is bonded with sealant to the head on the DX5 unlike the DX4 which has replaceable seals.
I would not know how to or what sealant to use on the DX5.

Hi
I have had had similar problem to this.
Does it jump when it does this, sometimes throwing an error?
Most definitely an encoder disc problem.
We eventually fitted a new encoder disc as the old one had warped and was causing all sorts of problem when it came close or touched the sensor.
Also...
Has anyone used Arlon DPF 6000 series films for wraps.
I am just trying to compare it to 3m IJ180 materials.
Their is almost a third in price saving between both materials, and every saving counts.
But not at the risk of failures!

I have a Valuejet 1604 with Wasatch 6.2 RIP.
I am wondering what profile I should use when printing PET/POP UP Banner material?
I have none on my huge list of profiles.
Many Thanks

Some of the firmware on the JV3 is not able to be removed once installed (I think).
If just to get the machine running again and the chips are out of date, not empty.
Is to pull out the main board battery leave for a few minutes and reinstall.
This resets the dates back to when it was built...
We have also used the SC1400D to cut moto-x graphics.
To be brutally honest, "it is not up to the job".
We had a guy here in the UK supply us a 60 degree blade but the amount of extra pressure and how slow the machine has to be made to cut the material it just wrecks the machine.
It should be...
How would you create this effect?
I realise this is just Stencil font but it looks like it has chunks and bits out of the edges.
Almost grungy.
Thanks

OMG!!!
If a fuse blows it normally specifies a fault on the circuit.
The fuse is their to protect other parts of the circuit.
This sounds like your head board or cables has a fault.
I would be replacing these items first BEFORE fitting a new fuse.

Unless this was stored with the cleaning cartridges in it or left on standby (running cleaning cycles).
You will need a new head.
These machines thrive on being used a lot. But they are a disaster when used little or not at all.
You can try soaking the head for long periods but if blocked you...

What version of wasatch are you running your 1604 off?
I am running Wasatch 6.2 on our VJ1604 and can't find an ink cost estimator on it.
I also thought like me you were running bulk inks through your machine.
So ink costs must be a hell of a lot lower than if you were running OEM inks...
