  1. Question on sandblasting HDU foam

Yep, if you use 2" you will need a frame, or do two faces laminated to stiffener core.
  2. Suggestions Lighted sign redo

If they're expecting a permanent solution I would suggest refacing with ACM. You'll have to add some support in the middle.
  3. Regular vinyl on reflective for signs?

Why not ask the client the specs?
  4. What would you do....?

I'm supposed to know which vehicles have aluminum doors? I guess, but it seems like we are supposed to keep track of a lot of stuff that is constantly changing..."oh, now vinyl won't stick to paint", and "geez that material used to last 5 years or more guess I missed when they reformulated it"...
  5. Lexan mark up

Yep, it varies depending on the job and the quantity
  6. Question Are you a bitter, cranky old sign guy?

    Just carrying on the tradition
  7. Banner fitting in Scotsdale

Well, since there are now only a handful of merchants, none are in that area and apparently anyone can advertise here now, I don't think you have to worry about stepping on anyone's toe...
  8. Can anyone suggest someone to draw a characterture

Jill, John Deaton or Neato have all done nice work.

  14. Banner with D-Ring Instead of Gromet

This is a requirement around here for street banners. Double stitched hem with webbing, re-enforced corners & D rings. You have to either find a supplier who can do them or have a local industrial sewing shop (some who does boat tops or the like) to do them.
  15. Rant Are you open on Saturday?

We have retail clients whose weekly orders get completed and delivered Saturdays, so one guys work week is Wed-Sat. And I am here working on layouts, billing etc. So if someone asks if we are open Saturday it's a judgement call.
  16. I'm just a lowly sales guy... but...

You're right Bob, I should have said "Signs aren't supposed to just be pretty..."
  17. I'm just a lowly sales guy... but...

Signs aren't just supposed to be pretty, they have a job to do, and if they don't do it then the customer might be happy, but they also might not get the return on their investment that they could have. And it's not a new problem, back when the Letterhead movement revived art deco and historic...
  18. Need Help Best software for shadow effect

One of the things I love about Gerber, it does signpainter shades(and outlines) not print shadows. Sounds like the flexi upgrade has it too.
  19. getting a mounting pattern up on a stucco dryvit surface

We mount on coro or cardboard and tape in place and then also add some screw where studs will go.
  20. Is customer trying to scam me?

Weird issue, only on the white not on the ink? Anyhow since they are obviously trying to burn you and they still owe a large sum, I would ask how many were bad and start the negotiation with and offer of 50% credit for the bad ones towards their next order. And then change the policy to payment...
