  1. Why I hate Lowballers

Welcome to owning a sign company in Florida. We've been doing it 22 years and I lose out low-ballers all the time. I lost to lettering the local police cars to a guy working out of his garage.
  2. Another realtor story.

I agree. The only people that won't leave a deposit were not serious in the first place! My existing customers were told of the new policy and nobody had a problem with it. We started it about 4 years ago. I get a deposit on layouts. You want me to do a layout for free so you can shop it???? No...
  3. Another realtor story.

I've been stuck by politicians, reators and Churches way too often. That's why we get 50% down on every order now. No proofs even, without a deposit. We had a room full of signs that were never picked up. If their serious, they'll leave a deposit! Sucks though...
  4. Bordeaux Ink from N Glantz. Good or Bad? Why?

? Thanks for your reply but I'm slower than the average bear sometimes. Please explain your your post. Bordeaux is packaged for differently for different suppliers?
  5. Bordeaux Ink from N Glantz. Good or Bad? Why?

Seasons Greetings everyone! We are contemplating switching from our Mimaki factory inks to the "Bordeaux" ink that N Glantz is selling. Anyone have any experience good or bad with this ink? Thanks! Marianna
  6. Tubelite Company, whats your thoughts?

Service can be so-so, but Mike Bracey is the BEST tech out there. Won't let anyone else touch my Mimaki equipment!
  7. Need pricing help

We have an opportunity to bid on wrapping a fleet of older sprinters and vans. The sprinters have no windows other than the driver, passenger and windshield. The customer wants to cover every square inch, roof, hood, etc. The graphic is a multi colored "swoosh" stripe. The customer wants...
  8. Are big names over rated ?

I have 3 Mimaki cutters, two of which we've had for 20 years (yes, that old) and besides replacing rollers and blades, they have never failed (knock on wood). When it came time to buy a printer, we stuck with Mimaki (and also bought a CG-160FX cutter). These things have been work horses for...
  9. 3M Partial Wrap Via Mopar!

3M circumventing the sign companies who might otherwise be the ones selling and installing said graphic. 3M being a major supplier to sign companies.
  10. Chrome wrap... it may be real this time...

    Agreed! INCREDIBLE!
  11. 3M Partial Wrap Via Mopar!

Haven't been to this site in awhile so hoping that I'm not beating a dead horse but came accross this "BS" while perusing a Mopar website. Called the dealer and they do sell the graphics kit but claim that it does not include the installation. Any way you cut it still "BS". Sooo frustrating...
  12. Chrome wrap... it may be real this time...

We've "talked" to them. They don't sell the vinyl. The only way to get your car "chromed" is if they install it...in Europe. Very cool stuff tho' Marianna
  13. Wrap Removal Charge

We pulled a wrap off a van that took 2 guys 2 days! It was a nightmare! I ate some of the cost since I was rewrapping it, but had him sign a waiver saying "I make no guarantees about the paint underneath" in so many words. Everyone is right, though. Time and materials.
  14. Logo Re-design

Brelby name should be spelled out on top. Use person in bottom logo with curtains on top logo, then mirror so you have two people bowing opposite directions on stage. Leave full name at the bottom. My $.02.
  15. Oracal or MacTac reflective material?

Hi there, Does anyone have any experience and or opinions about Oracal vs. MacTac reflective material? We will be cutting it and applying it to a flat surface trailer (no rivets). We've never used MacTac before but it is cheaper than the orocal and we need 60 feet of it. Thanks a million...
  16. 3m is offering wraps to endusers

Tim, "Spin" it any way you want...this is BS! It looks like you've been given the unenviable job of confirming this heap of horse manure. To suggest that this is "good" for YOUR current customers, the small and medium sign shop , borders on insulting. Most auto purchasers are not going to...
  17. Anyone know anything about 3M Reflective Heat Activated Sheeting?

We have dozens of rolls of this 3M reflective heat activated "sheeting". It is old but I think still very good. Does anyone out there know who might still use it or even how it is used? Better yet, anyone out there have any interest in it? Were selling it cheap. Thanks a million, Marianna
  18. SignGold vs. Vinyl efx Gold

We've done several fire trucks for the local airforce base and use the 23.5(?) SignGold. Most of our vendors didn't even know it was/is offered however, it looks spectacular and will last a long time. It is quite expensive but was totally worth it. Also someone posted something about the fire...
  19. What to do with PITA client and a job that has gone south.

I've run into these people a lot. I wouldn't redo the job as it will be 'wrong' also. Customers like this are never happy. After being in the sign business for 20 years, my recommendation is to refund their money. Plain and simple. I would say that "perf may not be the option for you, here...
  20. what is the rule of thumb for wrap pricing

I've seen a competitor advertise locally $3.99 a square foot, installed, on vehicle wraps! This must be a last ditch effort for sales before he goes under.
