  1. Wave pattern banding

Cleaned rotary encoder disk and sensor and this seems to have worked. Not sure why it was only happening with one media (canvas) but I was able to get a nice print after the cleaning. Thanks for all the suggestions.
  2. Wave pattern banding

I've attached a couple of images that show the banding issues I've been dealing with lately. It really shows up in green and blue saturated color. The banding is a pattern that will produce a good result for 1/4 to 1/2 inch then band for an inch or so then print a good result again. This pattern...
  3. Head adjustment on a Mutoh

Thanks for the replies. I was able to move the print head a little by removing it and am now calibrating it. Tom
  4. Head adjustment on a Mutoh

Thanks Stealth. I'm looking at a Rockhopper II manual Rev ;1,1, 08/03/2004. The only adjustment that I can see that would fix this is the Repeatability Adjustment (Bi-Directional/Uni-Directional. When I run these tests the lines look very close. Is this the test you were referring to or am I...
  5. Head adjustment on a Mutoh

Rockhopper II 64", latest firmware. I'm trying to tune my Mutoh printer to solve a banding issue. The banding is happening where black or a portion of black is in the image. In maintenance mode I ran the front and back and head slant patterns. Sure enough the black head was out of alignment. I...
  6. Does mild solvent ink lay down smoother than Eco Ultra ink

It's been a couple of years since I switched my Mutoh Rockhopper II from mild solvent to Eco Ultra inks. I use Onyx PosterShop 7.3.2 and use ICC profiles for Eco Ultra inks. I'm happy with the switch, there's no problems however I have always noticed that my prints are more grainy than they were...
  7. High pitched noise coming from Toucan LT print head

Solved.... It appears the noise was coming from one of the two fans that are on either side of the print head. I discovered this when in the administration panel and found a way to turn on the fans while the head was stationary. When running the fans are producing this noise. TJ
  8. Trying to solve a banding issue

solved.... It appears that I have fixed the problem with the banding issue. The problem was either the black print head, which I replaced, the PF adjustment that was out 1 mm or the encoder strip which was cleaned. I'm guessing the black print head was the main cause. So far the Mutoh is...
  9. Trying to solve a banding issue

PF adjustment I'll try this next but since I'm running the wave firmware on my Mutoh would a bad pf setting not show up as sine wave banding rather than the straight line banding issue I'm showing? TJ
  10. Trying to solve a banding issue

Fresh nozzle check Here's a nozzle check. To me it looks good. There's one missing bit on the magenta head. The black shows some deflection. TJ
  11. Trying to solve a banding issue

Mutoh Rockhopper II 64 running current firmware with wave. Onyx PosterShop 7.3.2.16 Ultra Eco Mutoh Ink Media - banding happens in all media, more visible in gloss media Problem. Images that contain dark areas will show what looks like white bands. Lighter shaded areas will not show this...
  12. High pitched noise coming from Toucan LT print head

Randya, I'll be lubricating the races today. The head does move smoothly but I haven't lubricated the races in quite a while. Thanks the the info. This morning the noise is gone. I turned the printer off last night, came in this morning and started a job and no noise, but I am a day older...
  13. High pitched noise coming from Toucan LT print head

An annoying high pitched noise started coming from my 4 year old Toucan LT 64 this morning. It appears to come from the print head as it prints. When the head is parked it does not make this noise. There's two fans, one on each side of the print head. I'm hoping it just one of those fans. Anyone...
