  1. New owner means NEW EQUIPMENT! Need some advice...

I double agree, 1) many people will give ther own preference, it's up to you to weight the pros and cons, and 2) I recommend the latex line as well, caveat: I do not own one, but if I was to buy another printer, it would be a HP latex.

forgive me if I'm incorrect, but I thought the only use of the optimizer was to promote adherence at faster speeds?
  3. Is there a difference between perf cut blades and kiss cut blades?

I'm pretty sure they are the same, only difference between the two is the downforce pressure (software) be sure to check on your cutting strip more often! it kills the cutting strip a lot faster.

fastest method: take it to a professional scanner. second best: get some even spaced lighting, a 20mp+ Dslr a telephoto lens, and take a shot from far back ghetto method: take a scanner, remove the top. lets say the scanner is 8x14. place the scanner on the floor and do not let it move.place...
  7. Anyone heard of doing NFC decals?

NFC is a chip. you cannot print a chip ;) it would have to be an addon embedded in the vinyl or under it. it will also be a lot more expensive than a QR code, and you will need to stand next to it to get information, wheras you can simply take a picture of a qr code. pros: you cannot see it...
  8. Hello ...seeking new computer advise please chime in Which processor???????

There is no need to get an i7 unless you are ripping on it, the day to day operating speed on both will be the same, (albeit a tiny bit lower) than justifying it's price increase. an i7 will outperform an i5 in throttling conditions, such as encoding, rendering and long mathematical...

I work as a web developer (don't visit my site, lol, I've never had a chance to get it up, too much work) and I'd like to give some advice, but not too much, I've finished job1 and now moving to my sign business for the day ;) In order to get decent ranking on google, there is so much you have...
  10. Double sided Vinyl Decals

I'm going to have to agree with Mike on this one, if it's a more "carboard-y" feel (it creases) I'd be assuming it was digital printed double sided then flash filled with an adhesive, I'm not doubting the other method, I've done that too, but I think this method is more feasible for a production...
  11. Water Transfer Printing - So Cool!

Hi, I looked into this a few years back, turns out there is now an inkjet compatible film which is compatible with the durabrite line of inks. It's still too expensive for me, however. I dont think there's a market for it in my neck of the woods.
  12. Truck Install I did over the weekend.

The Vinyl was applied at the exact position the client wanted. I did not mention in this thread (I thought I did) was the fact that it started to rain, so I took the "final" pictures in the rain, I waited till night to install the top portion, on top of the pig there is the word "camion" (truck)...

Thanks Man, I didn't even have to trim any of the overlaps! I've settled on beginners luck ;) they are overlapped 0.200inches. The only thing I'm worried about now, as someone mentioned in the portfolio board) is the client pressure washing the truck.

Thanks Malkin, I ended up cutting them in horizontal strips like you mentioned. One of the seams was on the moulding, so I moved it up, and now the bottom panel should cover the moulding. I will try to install it as you mentioned. The good news is that I now have a backup! As I mentioned the...
